Anyone know about-Skeeter 2006 20i porpoising problem?

Post by raymond »

I was told that the Skeeter 2006 20i boats has a problem with porpoising. Is this something Skeeter actually recalled? How do they correct this?
If i was to by a used 2006 would skeeeter still honor the fix?

At what speed do you start to notice and how bad is the porpoising

My 2006 had this problem.
Solution was a 2% wedge placed on the jack plate.
Very simple fix.
Hope this helps.
My 2007 came with it already on.

Between the engine and plate?
Wouldnt trimming the engine do the same thing?
How bad was the problem and when did it occur?

Trimming will not fix it.Would have to adjust the jack plate.

Yes.
No.
At low speeds...3500 RPM's and less. It did not happen to all boats.
Like I said...it is a simple fix.
No more problem.
Now go get that Skeeter and go fish.

I have a buddy that has a 21' "I" class skeeter. He towed his new boat back to the factory to have his hull fixed to stop his porpoising at high speed. FYI he brought his boat to several dealers and they couldn't stop the high speed porpoising. The factory removed some of his "hook" off the hull to repair the issue.

I have an 06 I20 mine porposed at low speeds then I raised the jackplate up 2.5 inches now no bubbles no troubles. I have talked to another guy who had the same problem an raising the jackplate cured his boat also.
