I like seaguar inviz 8lb for drop-shot and shakey heads.
15 lb for night fishing big worms.
Not good for top water lures, and a little spendy.

15 lb Seaguar Invizx for jigs/carolina rig/senkos on a baitcaster setup.
5 lb Maxima floro for light dropshotting on spinning gear
8 lb Maxima floro for larger dropshotting and smaller texas rigs on a baitcaster

I recently tried a spool of the Toray floro, the super hard 10 lb test. That stuff is sick!! I'll be changing from the seaguar and maxima to the Toray floro next time I re-spool.

As for DougH....he uses 120 lb floro for his thong.

Mostly for Jigs and Plastics and finesse type situations. I've been liking the P-Line Halo lately, but I do like seagur too.

If that is all you are useing fluro for you are missing the boat. I use it for everything except topwater. I am not a swimbait guy to much so I don't use it for that but I do crank and rip with it.
Also I use Sunline shooter for jig stuff and also Sunline sniper for light line applications. But don't take my word just because I am sponsored by Sunline. This thread will probably be highjacked anyway by someone saying I am only pushing a sponsor or something like that.

Yeah, don't listen to Ray, he is just putting a good word in for his sponsor   .......you know I'm kidding....... I use maxima and bass pro both....they are both quality lines, I am fortunate to have both as a sponsor, but would never use it if it sucked!!! we put too much on the line (pardon the pun) to use something we don't believe in just because we get it for free or at a discount.....I use what I know and I'm comfortable with the properties they offer.....I will never use any other mono than Maxima green, and both fluoros are excellent.....confidence is the number one factor in using a particular line......I'm starting to switch to "99%" fluoro as well......you need to try a few on a bait that you have a ton of confidence in and then decide for your self....but definitely give Maxima and XPS a try, as with the others......

I have not tried to Toray. But I've heard good and bad about it I will have to try it myself to see what I think. I mainly use Max and Steez fluorocarbon. I have fished the Sunline and I think that too is a good floro.

Just like other have said I used it for everything but topwater. I shake worms a lot so I use a lot of 10 and 12 floro. Both Max and Steez.

You will sell your self short if you don't try different ones. Give them all a try.

As Ray mentioned above.......Fluorocarbon is great for all applications except topwater. Here is how I use them.

5lb Sniper is dropshot line, 7lb Shooter small worms, 8,10,12 worms jigs, 14 Senkos, 16 Senkos on Delta,
20 & 23 flip pitch.

I also use the Sunline Siglon for Swimbaits. It comes in 15, 17, 20, 24, and 26 lb.

If you can get your hands on some of the Sunbline Metan in the smaller diameters such as 4 and 4.5 lb that is the best!

As far as the comparisons between Sunline and Toray go.......They are both great lines...

Sunline FC Sniper vs. Toray Super Hard Upgrade (Toray's TOP DOLLAR Fluoro)......

Toray's Super Hard is comparable to FC Sniper.... The Sniper is great line....BUt the Shooter is untouchable. Also, Sunline is priced much better.

Hope that helps.

I have a developed a simple philosophy of when to use Fluorocarbon...if it is under the surface and has a single hook...it gets fluoro, usually Sunline Shooter. If has trebles it and under the surface and for some topwater applications it is either Sunline Shooter Defier (Nylon Mono) or Sunline Machine Cast (Mono). Other Topwaters (ie. Frogs, Spooks) get braid.

I let the lake, conditions ... etc determine what line test I use. The most common line test for fluoro I use is 12# or 14# for jigs, shakey head, worming, 10# for jerks and rips, 7# Dropshot and 16# for Mission Fish and Carolina Rigging main line and of course 20# or 25# for flippin and heavy pitchin'.

Try the different brands on for size and choose the one that works best for you. Fluorocarbon is a great tool for your arsenal.

ps. Yes, I am affiliated with Sunline products. I chose them after fishing about every other Fluoro on the market. My results and winnings have increased greatly since I settled in with the Sunline Products and have not seen a reason to go back to any of the other brands. They make good products, but I believe it is tough to beat Sunline...ask Aaron Martens or Brent Ehler...I think you will get the same answer from them too

Tackle Tour did a comparison of flourocarbons recently. I think their website is tackletour.com.
It's worth a read.

For those of you who didn't read it it is a good article.

The think that I liked about the article is they didn't say so and so is better then this or that. It's just a comparison of some of the characteristics.

Since we have our choice of a whole wall of line, Kyle and I have pretty much tried them all, and we use Sunline for 90% of our rods. Still use Big Game Trilene on the C-rig with Sunline leader. With that said, the best selling lines in order at Anglers are, Sunline, Sugui{yamamoto} and Toray making strides every month. Toray makes the line for Yamamoto. Hearing some good stuff about the Invisix also. Sunline is the best IMHO for our picky lakes. Rick G.

Now my friend John Kerr who regularly kicks my butt with his Carolina rig will tell you to use the Flouro for the mainline and Mono on the leader. The stiffness of the Flouro will transmit the feel of the weight crossing the structure. Remember Mono floats so I use mono below the water when I want a bait to slowfall (like an Ika), float like a splitshot bait or flutter like the bait on the C-rig leader. Agree on the Sunline. Can I get some for free like the rest of you guys? That stuff is pricey.

This year I've been using Invisix. I like sugoi too but sometimes have trouble getting what I need. After I tried Invisix I have not even tried to get any sugoi, I liked it that much, super strong is an understatement!!!!

You should see the stuff they put out for Japan only. I often fish with the designer of there new brands. I was just showing him around a lake I know for his JB TOp50 event next week.

I use Seaguar on everything but topwater and swimbaits. The line is strong as rope and is very castable. Even for those of us that still get a "professional overide" every now and then, it is still limp enough to withstand an kink or two during the day.

PS What is the deal with "Japan only" baits and line? I know there are things only available in certain areas but I for one, am getting tired of hearing about things that are only available "IN" Japan. If they were that great, the mfgrs would be pushing them in the states. After all, we are the biggest bunch of new tackle whores in the bass fishing world...

PSS I have a new swimbait, I poured it yesterday, but unless you live on my street, you cant get one.

Here in Yorba Linda, there is some sick stuff being designed. Stay tuned for updates on what you can't get...

It is called supply and demand and right now the demand for there products are so high they can't keep them in tackle shops and can't produce it fast enough. These companies are different than others you hear about. They pride themselves off of there pride in craftsmanship, you don't hear too many of these companies having recals on baits or lures and no need to send out glue to keep the parts on your baits.

There is a reason why there not sold in the USA and that is something you probably would never understand. And no you are not the biggest bunch of new tackle whores in the bass fishing world. The bass fishing world far out stretches Yorba Linda and your street and the rest of the US for that matter.

PS. Keep being tired of hearing about the Japan only items, your friends and competitors like Jimmy Reese will like you that much longer if your out of the loop!

The word only automatically implies that a thing/concept is exclusive and short supply. If you tell a drunk that, that swedish meatball is the only one in the chafing dish, he is more apt to waddle over there like a St. Bernard to investigate. Exclusivity breeds intrigue. Japan only products don't remain japan only for long. Secrets never last in this industry for those willing to investigate, There could be a Lithuania only spinning reel that you buy on ebay and receive in 5 days. I like the FC sniper very high quality, but i like my "California only" Izorline better

I understand the concept of supply and demand. And I know that there is no reason to go to the extent of selling in the states if they cannot even keep up with demand in their own market. For those that take the time, there are avenues that one can find to get the products they want but are unable to get over here. I found a website a year or so ago that sells alot of the supposed Japan only stuff. I know it is probably not the stuff you are talking about, since you have never been specific. But there are things available to us thru the internet...expensive as hell to ship...but available to those that want it.

Nothing is out of reach with a little digging.
