Clear Lake activities for the family?

Post by MT »

Howdy,
Taking the wife, kids, and my dad to Clear Lake next week and staying at Lake Escape. I'm looking for suggestions in that area for non fishing things like eating out, kids activities, shopping or anything else you think would the trip enjoyable for everyone. I'm open to anything as I would like to make this trip a family tradition. Thanks in advance. Mike Thompson

Check the Lakeport Chamber of Commerce for any parades , car shows etc. also in Lakeport are the weekend races at the fair grounds , drive-in movie , library park concerts on Friday nights might be going on , I think the town of Clearlake still has a water park , State park has a little wild life museum , while in the Lakeport area stop by the Pigley Wigley where on Sundays Ottis Pune carves farm animals out of bars of Ivory soap !

Soooo.....do we have to bring our own soap for Ottis to carve? Wow, and I thought the best thing going in the area was the awesome fishing. Now that I know there's soap carving going on on Sunday's, I might have to pass on the fishing! Another idea for the family is to tour some wineries. There's some great ones in the area. Also, send the wife down the road to Calistoga for a mud bath and massage. I'd bet she's love that. Konocti Resort has a nice pool for the kids, massage for the wife.

"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

The water park was sold last year and they haven't done anything with it yet. There is not a whole heck of a lot to do except fishing. Konocti is your best bet. Massages, Pool, Miniature Golf, Etc. They have jet ski rentals too, but it probly costs an arm and a leg.
