New Hogan stripers

Post by Kentuck »

Was wondering if anyone knows if the stripers on New Hogan are boiling yet? I was thinking about heading there soon. If not maybe I'll wait till next month.

Not sure about Hogan, but I went to Castiac last Fri and fished for stripers. Caught 7 the entire day, big one was 10lbs on 6lb florocarben. My buddy got spooled on 4lb test. Would have loved to have seen that fish.

Kentuck,

Heres a report from Hogan's top Striper guide Bruce Hamby. He sent this to me last week.

From Bruce Hamby, www.sierrasportfishing.com

The Striper bite at New Hogan reservoir is on. Bruce is finding good action in the Main Lake area. Most of the fish are averaging 3 to 7 lbs. The lineside are boiling now, and are near the surface to 15 ft deep. We have been rolling shad and anchovies, with Pro-Cure sent in the deeper water early in the morning. However once the water skiers start, the fish are moving closer to shore in the shallow water. Flat line a small shad pattern lure, or roll shad, 100 ft. behind the boat for good results.

Go get em!!
