New Numb Nut"--deserved recognition !!

Post by Mitch »

Well, what can I say. Here's my story, and I'm stickin' to it !!!
My dock bite had basically changed from Thurs and Fri. on Sat, (many 3-5 lb fish) to 2-3lb fish so I decided to go looking for some Frog fish. I had checked out Soda Bay on Fri and noted that the weeds were there just below the water and looked like a good area for froggin'. I told my draw partner, Larry, that we would go there first and give it about an hour or so. We arrived there about 5:45 and he had a fish first and I had 2 good ones on but came un-buttoned. I had just changed to a Senco, and inadvertently NOT put the latch back down on the locker. I threw the Senko a while and was going back to the frog. When I went to change rods, I caught my sandal on the left up latch and before I could say "SH%T" I was in the water !!! It was about 7ft deep, but at least it was warm. I came right up and Larry was ready to pull me back in. He was more scared than me. Poor guy, I really felt bad for him. I swam around to the back of the boat and got back in via the Swim Ladder. Now THIS is an option that I very "highly recommendâ€

Mitch, sorry to hear about the rod and reel..That cannot be an easy loss..Even the "numbnut" plaque doesn't make up for the loss..I take it this happened before Tom and I ran into you guys when Tom was in a mad hunt for a restroom..

In any case it was great seeing you again..I was disappointed JT couldn't make it..But I can understand with his mobility problems right now..Sure missed him..

Thats all you got???

Who hasn't had this happen? Andy must have paid you to
come up with this story... Plus a new rod at the raffle? I smell
a conspiracy.. What are you hiding Cuccia? Must be a beauty
of a tale.

Thanks Mitch. Takes a big man to share a moment like that.

Hey Mike, rest assured, ole Cooch did his damndest, to assure this was one award he was not winning! That's not ta say I didn't have a couple of reallly close encounters, I did!

The only untold story, was of the other guide up there who was so deserving of the NumbNut award. Had it been me that pulled away from the dock with all his electrical charging cords still plugged in, I'da been handed the NumbNut right then and there. Theil got off lucky!!!!! Hell, they didn't even give him an honorable mention. They wuz just taking it easy on that grumpy ole fart! HAR! HAR! HAR!

Welcome to the club Mitch! Although not original, as Korny mention, falling in is classic, and will put ya right there every time!

Mitch,

Congratulations on your Numb Nut award. I sympathize with you on the loss of your Loomis IMX and Shimano Calais. Perhaps you offer to sell the GPS coordinates on the rod and reel's location to other Nut Cases in an effort to recoup your part of your loss! As I was bagging my fish for yesterday's weigh-in my second fish decided to go back into the lake rather than the bag. I was amazed on how many rally participants witnessed my misfortune and immediately started chanting Numb Nut, Numb Nut!!! It was kinda like mob rule!!! I wasn't sure of whether to be flattered by the attention or completely embarrassed by what had happened. I finally figured out that it was a Nut Case's way of saying "I'm glad it happened to you and not me!" I can truly say that I'm proud to be a runner up to you for the the Numb Nut award.

I noticed that Corny told Cooch to come back next year to defend his Top Nut award, but didn't say anything about defending the Numb Nut award!

All kidding aside I'm really sorry about the loss of your rod and reel.

See you at the next year's rally.

Hey Bones, I was there, I weighed in 2/3 of my entire Rally catch on that weigh in..If I saw you there, I didn't recognize you..After all I haven't met you, but I have seen pictures, but don't carry them around in my wallet for recognition aids..I really wanted to meet you also..
