Ultimate Match Fishing

Post by Ron T. »

Monday night showdown between Luke Clausen and Brent Ehrler . After last season I had alot of respect for Luke , after what I saw monday I lost some of that . Has it gone to his head ? I think Luke took things way to far . For those of you that did not see the show , Luke mentally and physically hurASSed Brent while landing a key fish to the point Brent ended up in the lake and loosing the fish . What do you guys think ?

If I was fishing for 50k and had those rules boy you better watch your back hahahahaha anything goes ! what a great show !

Looked to me like Luke was pretty torn up about it. I thought he was going to cry for a minute. Never met him but seems like a class guy. Brent looked absolutely in shock. Hard to say how he took it after he dried off and had time to think about what happened.

I was a bit taken to, but thats the way it goes. Brent should have known that Luke was really aggressive, so he should of had a game plan that took "aggresiveness" into account. Brent should of been in Lukes face alot more, that "nice guys finish last" comes to mind.

I dont know guys , If I were to do that to one of you I would expect a fat lip in return and likewise . I dont think thats the format the producers of the show had in mind . Lets see what kind of "fun " future competetors have with Luke in future shows . Pay back is a bitch . I understand defensive fishing but not the physical contact and biteing the line off on a fish .

For 50K it might be more than a fat lip. But it seemed Luke thought Brent had the fish in hand when he bit the line. Does seem a bit strange that you cant cast over the center of the boat but when the other guy has a fish you can jump over the line and grab the guys rod or spin the boat in circles around a piling like Larry Nixon? did in past episodes. The format is flawed, but entertaining.

I have known about this fiasco for a long time and it is WAY NOT what it seems. Brent Ehrler was SMOKING PISSED OFF about this deal and Luke was lucky he did not get his butt kicked in the boat. Luke BIT OFF HIS LINE WHILE HE WAS FIGHTING THAT FISH and Brent had the line in his hand trying land that bass and that is why he fell in the lake. Total crap. Also what they did not show was Luke running the boat in circles around the spot so Brent could not catch any more on that spot. 50k is no laughing matter. Then to top it off the idiots that run that show came out with a statement that it was all done in fun and that Brent and Luke are buddies. WRONG! I have lost all respect for Luke and am embarrassed to represent some of his sponcers. Brent is as class as it gets in this business. If fact Luke's exact words to Brent in the boat were" no wonder I dont have any friends on tour". Gee think so. Rick G.

I second Rick, Luke has burned so many bridges I'm surprised he still has any sponsors or friends. And everyone thinks Ike is a bone head!!!!

The concept of that show is completely gay. Why not supply knives, bats, and other weapons to have on the deck while the other guy is trying to fish. Brent is a classy guy. Luke is not. Is watching Bass fishing so boring that they have to allow that stupid sh@t in order to get people to watch. I'd like to see Luke face Dobyn's next. What do you think would happen to Luke?

Kevin , the program was actually a decent show until Luke pulled this crap . Who knows where it will go now since this last program . The producers allowed Luke to do what he did and UNFORTUNATLY the tone has been set . I may have to remove it as a favorite from my DVR.

The Producers came out with some lame comment, the show was edited to make (accurately so) Clausen look like an Ahole hole

I wan not much of a Luke fan my self but this turned me off to him completely and the show and Joe Thomas.

I wanna see the Same tough words about him as was said about Ike (I know 2 totally different things) most important not only did he disgrace him self but he disgraced his sponsors.

Pals or not (I dont know them so I cant comment) but this is a for Cash and you dont mess with another persons Job and how they pay the bills

Seems to me the show's producers are trying to make it more "Jerry Springer" than bass fishing.
The first season, the guys were respectful, and some actually let the other guy fish. It was fun to watch them fish against each other and see how they fished different spots and techniques.
This year, it's idiots on parade. Like they want it to be NASCAR, with bumping and spinning out, and fights at the finish line.
If it happens again, I won't watch it any more.

I think Rick Clunn comes to mind when I heard about this. He is a class act all the way and in no way would he like to win the tournement that way. He proved it in his past preformance. But Luke made a mistake and I do believe he regrets it and we have all acted like jack asses at one point or another. but let there be no mistake, funny or not thats bad sportsmanship and I believe from Lukes reaction he realizes that.
