I personally never trim the skirt, leave it big, and bulky is what I do. I do trim the weed guard to the hook though!

do what ever floats yer boat!

In most cases, I prefer the longer skirt, heck I've even had Trocye build me a jig we're field testing with 8" of rubber on it. In dirty to stained water, especially in the summer, I think the largemouth bass prefer a bigger, "One shot" meal. At other times, trimming the skirts may fit the mood. The nice thing about the Wadda, ya git ta start off with a long skirt, or ya can slightly trim it away to match the average jig, and then ya can trim it even more, maybe as much to look like a puffer baller jig. The choice is yours ta do what ya want with em, if the bass eat it, do what ever it takes!

Tony, I am no expert using jigs, but since I have started using the Wadda's my catching has gone way up..I just leave it like it is and add a trailer..

under certain conditions I have used rattles. But for the most part, I don't, so we didn't feel we needed to add rattles to the Wadda, and force them on guys. Adding rattles does drive up the cost of jigs and is time consuming to the tying process. I've always found it easier to add or remove them as needed.

I will add the slip on collar rattles to a jig if I feel that it is necessary. Typically necessary to me means MUDDY water and a very slow presentation. I prefer the option to add rattles vs cutting rattles off my baits as the shrink tube is typically pushing agianst my trailer.

As for trimming I start with the full skirt and will trim back from there, If I am fishing the River or Clear Lake BIG LONG SKIRT. Folsom, Comanche etc... I will trim down the skirt to size up to my bait.

You can buy them at Mel Cotton's in San Jose

The Hook Line & Sinker in Oakley ( Will also ship orders)

I think Extreme Angler carries them also, but I'm not sure.

Great bait, great price!

Tony,
The only time I've trimmed the skirt is on a recent trip to Clearlake. I was using a craw trailer and I wanted the bass to be able to clearly see the red claws, so I trimmed back the skirt and it seemed to help.

But I'm mostly like the rest; leave em long.

Tell Miguel I said 'Hey'.

I fish em as id with the exception of trimming the weed guard or thinning it rather......I have been experimenting with little tiny sponges before the trailer to hold more stink.

rattles added at times....I usually ferget or they break off.

love em

Cooch,

Wth this skirt being a lot longer i can see that it will work well with that bigger double and single tail grubs by Mr. Yamamoto but are those hooks bigger to support that or did you stay with that 3/0 like you got on the 1/2 oz. jigs?

I have some that are trimmed... I have some that i have done nothing to...I have some that i have pulled out half the rubber... I have some that I added rattles to...I have some that i have dyied...I have some that i have cut the weed guard off...

Point is these jigs work great any way you decide to fish em. Trick is YOU have to figure out what one of the 31 flavors is working best that day! Fish what you have confidence in!
