RIP BAITS & CRANK BAITS
Re: RIP BAITS & CRANK BAITS
All year long! Love rippin in fall and winter. I always start out the day with one or the other, usually a ripbait. It blows me away how shallow the bass are in the winter sometimes.
On the other hand, I did finally buy a swimbait outfit so I'll see if my approach changes over the next 4 or 5 months.

Re: RIP BAITS & CRANK BAITS
My main go to bait is a rip bait, Now that the fish are more accustomed to see the slammers, crackers and swim baits, it makes me even more want to go to the old but true baits.
Funny thing is we use to catch a lot of fish and win tournaments before swim baits came around, true it's another tool in the tool box, but at the growing price of the swim baits it dose make me pause to wonder, is the swim bait catching the fish or fishermen?
I use to think that a lucky craft or rico was top $$$$'s but $100 dollar and more for a swim bait WOW!!!! sort of takes my breath away. but there will always be people around who have got to have the newest of everything. Just look at the new finders on the market $ 2000.00 not uncommon and when the x-15 came out everyone just had to have one at $900.00 bucks.

Re: RIP BAITS & CRANK BAITS
Jigs, Jigs, Jigs,
Swimbaits, yeah, they make you feel cool
Ripbaits, eh?! Not so much
Crankbaits, hells bells yes!!! Bandit Crankbaits in particular!
I always like to have a crank rigged up, if the fish are active, a crank can rake you up a bunch of fish in short order. In the rocky lakes, I often throw a 12' diving crank to the shoreline and work it all the way back to the boat. I can't think of any other bait that is more erratic than a deep crank in shallow water. As Rick Clunn states in an old Daiwa promo video, "I look at a crankbait as a tool, like a set of ratchet wrenches. I choose the right tool for the job....." and that is true. The jig owns my heart and soul, but something about a dummy "chuck and wind" crankbait is special!!

Jigs,
I throw Jigs all year round they are my goto bait and confidence bait. Doesnt mean that I dont throw the Swimbait, but lets face it Swimbait fish are still very much intruiging to us and a new horizon that we are just starting to tap into and understand, therefore they will get more hype.
Some good ole trusted lures, Jigs, Jitterbug, spook, crank, spinnerbaits still catchin fish!
