I'm get tired of seeing people posting negative comments when someone keeps a big fish. Its a subject that has been talked about many times on this website. Allow the fisherman to enjoy his moment.

Sorry, but I disagree with you. It can't really be said too often. When people kill the brood stock it hurts everyone who enjoys catching them. There really isn't anything negative about asking someone to catch and release large stripers.

Sorry, but I disagree with you......... There definately ain't no shortage of Stipers in our fishery........and they eat 'lil black bassies that won't be able to grow into big bassies.........
It is a personal decision........In a free country........and perfectly within the law.
Congrats on your fine catch semperx510.

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Just a quick correction...
"There definately ain't no shortage of Stipers in our fishery"... this is false... stripers are at all time lows per DFG population studies. Just because you can go out and catch em and have some good fishing doesn't mean they are anywhere near where they once where. There 20x as many fish in the good old days. Big spawning female stripers need protection... also, they are dangerous to eat as they are full of mercury.

To all of you who have a problem with people keeping a fish..I respect that..however its still one's own opinion/decision. I practice catch and release with black bass. However with fish like stripers..I keep em only because it taste good...and in our culture we never waste any part of the fish. Unlike people who catch fish, improperly filet em, and waste it. Until regulations are changed and restrict the keeping of stripers, I will still keep legal caught stripers. Also you think catch and release is really all being friendly to the eco?!...we are still hurting the fish. What makes you think 100% that the fish isnt affected after its been caught?...

I agree with catch and release to a point that when i caught my 8.06lb smallmouth which at the time was the 3rd largest in California i RELEASED it however i also believe it is upto the angler to do how he or she chooses with the fish they catch. Look at it this way...
License $43.10
gas $40.00
bait $40.00
the wife yelling cuz your going again....at least $50 to shut her up
catching a nice fish....for sure its not priceless but well worth it...
as a tackleshop owner it is in my best interest to have fish in the delta for fisherman to catch however it is also in my best interest to keep the fisherman happy and give them props for when they do catch fish...its a catch 22 as i see it so i just report what i see and keep my opinions to myself....i would be more than happy to help in a Project Striper restoration program....

Well i see it like this i have eaten many " pan fry" trout .....you know the ones that are barely 12" the so called "barely legal" !!
They taste the best then again i have tasted 8 # trout that really tasted like cat food or something nastier.
SOOOOO !! here's my deal keep the small but legal and let the fat bitches spawn off into bigger offsprings it's like that across the board !!
- get em boyzzz !!
