you all should call yourselves nut swingers....seeing that you all swing on eachothers nuts. JK. Its obvious that Don knows its not the techniques that catch the hogs but where and what time of year (from the black background).

LOL MorningBuzz! Where? Every lake I have fished. When? Every chance I get, all year long. Hmmmm I think I should try Millerton next, that lake has got to be the biggest challenge for anyone to find a good fish. Maybe not. After all it is trout fed too.
I wish it was that easy as you say, I would only take one rod and one bait. One rod and one bait= a lot less fish caught.

Don.

I didn't mean so much as to what lake ect...but the structure and the bait for specific times of year that the fish are keying in on.

Yes, I threw them a bit out a Havasu but couldn't get on a blade bite. Almost all of our fish came on jerks or topwater.

One of these days I'll get my big ol' arse up to Pedro. Maybe I can even git that Don fella ta show me around

Yeah, The Motherlode Swimbait Expo!!!...This could be huge you guys!...Jigs, don't let up on this...Take your time and do it right...Even if it has to go down in the spring when the weather is better...Rio Vista does it every year for their striper derby, Hap's Bait has a seminar right before the derby...Products, food, booths, and fun meeting good people...

You have the lakes, nobody can take them away from you...Don't forget New Hogan's, my favorite water skiing lake...Even if you did a Winter Expo, then a Spring Expo...Man, I remember throwing Mann's Jelly worms up there in the 70's...Xman, remember that back cove, I think we all caught a total of 27 black bass that trip...Thanks Leon, for all you did for us!...Taking us everywhere when we were young...Inventions are on their way!...

Good luck you guys, create your own market, imagination is the key...

P.S. How a bout a Basstrix Open and Basstrix supplies the baits...Wonder how many would show up?...500 teams?...You guys are the gold miners, outsmart the guys selling the shovels, picks, ice, and $100 a gallon, water...

Good Luck,

Shad*Wizard...

BASSINDON

Hey I usually fish back seat so I have to carry allot less rods, so all are for multiple uses. I use a powell 703 glass rod for spooks, lunker punkers, crank baits, spinner and buzz baits, all reaction. It is a little parabolic so it gives the right action for walking spooks and stuff. What line should I run weight, type wise? I found out that the flourocarbon didnt work to well. I run a braid backing should I just go all braid or will that kill the action. I prefer mono or co-polomer, Braid seems to fowl my lures more, and I have lost a few triple trout with tip wraps. My other swim rod is a powell 735, I use it for frogs triple trout and wake baits. Same line question. I am just starting the seminar early, I am going fishing tomorrow :D

For the Punker I am using #80 Powerpro ..... My reel for that lure and the shell cracker is the Abu Record No.50 and it holds almost 60 yards with #80.

I can cast it to the end -- and it walks perfectly all teh way out there and back. I could not do that when running #65 as it may have sunk ....... But even more it would get tangled in the front or middle hook alot when launching it out there.

I never have tried Mono- Those baits cost to much to loose in Tree's.

Bruiser found one in a tree with about 7 yards of what looked like #20 mono still attached to it.
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

I guess I will give it a try, I have a 201 currado I might have to get a 301 to hold that much line. That is some heavy stuff. You think that will work with crank baits and blades to? I have extra rods but if I am co-angler I cant take all the stuff I want. Do you guys use fast action rods for spooks and lunker punkers? Or do you use mod fast. I couldnt get them to walk with a fast action rod, might have been the flourocarbon. But the spooks walked fine with my mod fast rod. Something wasnt working, I just switched to all powell rods and currado 7 to 1 with flourcarbon and I am trying to work out all the bugs. Apparantly flourocarbon doesnt work for top water and wake baits. But now I am questioning my rod choice because it was so screwed up.
