Swimbait Question
Swimbait Question
I cant seem to find any 150 lb. braid to use for a stinger hook on my huddlestons. I do have 50 lb braid though. Would I be risking it if I used 50lb. braid for my stinger hook until I locate the right braid?

Re: Swimbait Question
I use 65lb power pro. Hasnt let me down yet. Just a word of caution check it after every fish as braid will fray.

Re: Swimbait Question
I use 40 lb Maxima Leader line. Easy to change if needed. If that holds then your braid should hold. Just make sure you make a good knot. I know a few that has lost fish from a slipped knot.

Re: Swimbait Question
Thanks for the answers guys, im using a double clinch knot. I got the idea from fish Chris website on how to rig a huddleston. Ive been having some fish pop off at the boat lately using the jig hook.

Re: Swimbait Question
Have you tried the cable system? When done properly I don't think there's a fish that swims that could bust it. 7 strand wire and clips...

Re: Swimbait Question
If you are losing fish at the boat then thats your falt not the jig hook.
1) Net is not easy to grab fast enough and the fish gets control.
2) You let up pressure on the fish at the boat.
As long as the fish gets in the net as it comes to the boat you WILL NOT lose them with the jig hook. It's you not the hook.

LOL! Gary
Hey buddy (nojob)
If I sound harsh I did not mean it that way. I guess it did read kind of blunt. I would like to add be very careful when lipping a big hot fish at the boat. Be sure to take that net or one day you may have to go to the ER with a big bait hook in you. It's no fun. LOL!!

Re: Swimbait Question
I beg to differ! Believe it or not I've had two fish break them. Not slip them, I had one do that as well (obviously my fault) but two that have twisted it up and got it to pop. Re: Swimbait Question

Re: Swimbait Question
Damn that's gnarly! Never heard of the cables breaking. Must've been a teener huh? I find it easier to place the hook in the right spot with the cable. It's just harder, for me, to use the braid. I would say the braid would be more disguised but for convienance I use the cable...
