Great jigs! I just wish I could find so more of the older fine rubber style jigs. The new ones are made round rubber with more of a "finesse" look.

Skinny Bear is THE Jig.

Which style and color do you prefer?

Let me ask you something, have you ever seen a skinny bear? Nope, and those jigs dont catch fish....do all of those anglers a favor clear the peg, give them to me and I will melt them down.

When I first started fishing I thought skinny bears were the ONLY jig to fish, Fishermans has stocked them in the past and you can order them on-line.

Berserk jigs use the fine living rubber or frogs hair, with a hook of your choice if you custom order it. Mustad or Gamakatsu. They are at C&C in Modesto, BaitBarn, Escalon Bait & Tackle, and the 76 station in Snelling.

Thanx Paul. I'm working on it. I'm still looking for a good grass jig. I've got a couple that I like; Open Water makes an awesome one, that I've used at Mead. We'll see.

Peace,
James

skinny bear jigs are pretty good

Post by StogieMan »

but not great, and not as good as they used to be. When they first came out they used a better rubber, they were priced better AND CAME 2 PER PACKAGE! Once they got a little brand recognition guess what, one per pack, cheaper skirt, higher price. Do they work? Sure they do but so do a lot of other jigs out there. I like Bobby "D" a local guy working out of his home and selling at a local/loyal dealer; Gene at the Hook! just my .02$ time for a cigar :D

I think it comes down to person choice as well as other factors.

Sure a lure may be introduced at rock bottom prices until it get name recognition and the demand goes through the roof. Skinny Bear still uses a ultra fine froghair live rubber on thier football jigs, but the finesse jigs are a thick round rubber. I like the thick round rubber on the finesse. I like the current line. And I realize that if I buy them, I will pay thier asking price. I'm ok with that, if I wasn't ok with that, I would never fork out the money I do on lucky craft, jackall, evergreen, or on swimbaits.

I use a ton of different brands and colors of jigs for various situations, but that all boils down to personal choice. I think the Wadda is about as close as you can get to the best overall jig for any situation as well as as being the absolute best in other situations. I like bobby Ds as well. Persuader American uses an ultra fine silicone on their jig skirts that make them an awesome jig under the right conditions. I like choices and I appreciate them.

A single lure that satisfies absolutly everyone doesn't exist. This is one of the multitude of reason that most pros modify thier baits themselves. There are very few lures that I don't modify, jigs included. I enjoy doing it. I guess it's all about perspective.

Good Fishing,
