prefishing!!!
As A tournament angler I try to pre fish minimum of 3 days most of the time 4 days A week to try and stay on top of things as best I know how. later in the year work doesent alow me to do that but thats ok because I get my fix in the first half of the year.. Well last saturday in the Anglers choice semi pro tournament my big motor started acting up. I ran it pretty hard going to my our first stop. thinking the whole field was going thier!! LOL when I came off pad it started. So now lets go fish with that on our minds. It was tuff and on top of it I had norcal pro am the next day. We managed 2 fish to get in the money but I think out of our other 2 spots that we didnt go to we could have done better. After calling around there wassent anything the shops could do saturday night so I ran it on sunday put it out of my mind and fished well. Tuesday I take it in, tuesday night I get the call new power head, and it wont be done for A week. Sad for A year old boat. So I decide no fishy this weekend. Friday I get several call from friends to say that I am more than welcome to use their boats.. So I take a buddy up on it go pick up his boat. go out saturday and go right back to what has been working the las two weeks to find not any more. Now im thinking did this happen because of the weather. when we got to the wiegh in with our 1 fish thinking it was tough only to find that all boats had fish with several bags over 20. I relized how much prefishing does for me. If I was out in the middle of the week I would have learned that the rest of the fish were doing now, what mine have been doing for 2 weeks, and there was A bite everywhere!!! I should have fished my other stuff and could have probably put together A bag!! Good jod Cooch and dan!!! Good job to the rest of the field!!!!

Dude,
Been there done that. Last year on the FLW events, I spent more of my pre-fish time at the Evinrude trailer than I did on the water. I ended up borrowing boats through-out the year for WON Bass tournaments as well. No excuse, but sure is a big hurdle. It's a whole rythym thing. In your case; you're used to fishing 3-4 days a week, and all of your worries are about fish. Here, you didn't fish for 6 days, and all week long you were concerned about your rig. The only time you had to focus on the fish was during the tournament. And even then, I'll bet you lost concentration. It's a tough gig.
Peace,
James
