I have to say...it is an amazing state...I have been down here for 3 weeks so far...and there are lakes everywhere and big ones.

And everyone I have talked to will tell you what the bite is and some places to try.

I was blown away by it. And everyone says hello.

And $3 to launch a boat on almost every lake.

I have 3 more weeks here...headed to amistad this weekend and the following one.

I love the fishing in CA but there is alot less political B/S down here, if there is any at all. Everything is pro hunter and pro fisherman.

The wife and I talked about that a couple years ago . Still an option . Cash out of this pit called California and slide back into some kind of sanity .
Im going to Sam Rayburn next month for the Big Bass Splash . Should be lots of fun .

You should try Tennessee fellas...went there two Springs ago and planning to go again this April.

Picture this....FREE to launch, fish 24 hours a day.....and it's this place called Lake Barkley. When you're done there, Kentucy Lake is waiting for you....

You need two baits, a jig and a spinnerbait....maybe a texas rig. just stay away from those tornados....no bueno.

You got it...

Post by Topwater Terry »

Around big D...Lewisville: 27,000 acres. Eagle Mountain: 8700 acres, and the same size for Grapevine Lake (these, by the way, are "small" according to the local folks). And there are many other lakes in the area. $700 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment, 100,000 for a nice house. Just check out realestatebook.com and order up a copy from the Metroplex area, the prices will blow you away. You also don't have to go through yards of red tape to put brush in a lake, you just go out and do it. It aint perfect, my friend down there has told me that she has heard of a few loonies running around down there talking about protecting lakes from clams or helping to save some weed or frog or whatever by restricting access, but it pales in comparison to what happens here...

Uh oh, well if you go, you probably won't like it  , it is a terrible place & the fishing stinks. And the people there aren't friendly like the are here

Crap you guys catch on too fast, and Ron T, you can stay @ my house next year @ Rayburn, just off Hwy 255, 1 mile from the Pavillion boat ramp. Here's the property:

Ain't gonna tell ya what I paid (it was rediculous)

2 acres, untouched by chainsaw, 1 mile from the main boat
ramp

House breaks ground in a couple months.

And when I go, Hippie, please stay here

Wow!

captainkirk, Hell yes Tennessee. Your right no launch fees just that alone would save u at least a $1000 a year or one free house payment a year.

Oh no! I see a western invasion in the future for Texas!

Oakview, give me a call. We are headed down to Amistad on Monday with Doug Hannon for the ENTIRE week! The recent cold
snap is a BUMMER and will probably affect the spawn. Hopefully it
will warm up this weekend.

If your looking for a great place to fish you might try Lake Fork in Texas 27,000 acres of good bass fishing.Great fishing and I can hook you up with a waterfront home for half the price real estate costs in California.March is a killer month to fish here on Lake Fork.
Come for a visit and spend a lifetime...

I fished Choke Canyon 2 weekends ago and was blown away with the lake...Imagine 10,000 acres of nothing but standing timber form 40ft to 2 ft of water...it was everywhere...there are no bouys and these guys are screaming through the trees at 70mph...if they stuck their hands out, they could touch the trees...plus I had a 14ft and 12ft alligator try to say hello to my swimbait...I almost sh@t myself...and this area is only a 1/4 of the lake...

It was amazing...

Lane I headed down there tonight...Staying at Angler's Lodge...
I will be there this weekend and next...I will give you a ring...

Nice house Miles. With all that $$$ you make, it's funny that you still haven't paid Brian for that rod. Oh well, its only been 7 or 8 months. I'll tell Brian to wait by the mailbox.

i lived in TN for two years right on Old Hickory Lake.. it was bad @ss, but guess what..i came back. i dont care how many lakes they close it doesnt change the beautiful weather we have out here in cali.. the weather will bring you back.. unless your into that sort of thing. If they close every lake ill go to the salt.. cali through and through.. you wont catch me going anywhere.

I will live and die here...its worth it to me

no knock on Texas...dam fine state

the Beaches the mountains, the total package that is Cali...its worth staying and fighting for....

Hippie, Didn't you know, Texas is a republic. That means that we are are sovereign. As far as politics goes, it is either steal with your
left hand or steal with your right. What difference does it make???
That is why Texas is still a republic, we don't pay PERSONAL INCOME TAXES and we don't care which hand steals! Life is too way too short for that nonsense. When the tough get going,we put
a sign on the door, "Gone Fishin or Hunting". Get the picture!

Amistad is a sick lake

Post by oakview »

I just got off the water...my first time fishing Amistad...all I can say is WOW!!!!

Even with 30mph winds both days, it still had 15ft+ visibility. There are fish everywhere.

TO all those guys that signed up to go on the fishing trip with Stan, you will not be disappointed...

They throw 21" worms, and they wacky rig them also...

I had a blast...going back next weekend...

Plus every ranger, DFG guy, border patrol, park staff and fisherman said hello and wanted to b/s...

Anyway, I might have found my next vacation spot...

I'd love to, and will have to figure it in to the vacation planning.

Best of luck back out there next week!

Roger

BTW - when you get back we'll have to get you out to DVL... you've got a standing offer here as you know. I've already introduced some of the fish to the Split Tail, and while I couldn't get them to go I did get their interest... it was just a bit early (this was a couple of weeks ago). Should be right by the time you get back!

Come on Ray! If you're fishing the rally, I've got several Texas boys gonna meet y'all there. When you get ready for Falcon, give me a holler. You know you can fly to San Antonio for $110.00 each way! That's what Dobyns did and I just picked him up there....

No ca. will never end up with less people cause all the country folks always want to move here. maybe a couple less fishing guys that think its better on the otherside, Try walking in someone elses shoes. They never feel right. Most people move away and end up coming back. You don't think Texas has a border problem too? People kill me. I'll tell you what when you move prove to me that life is way easier there with all the amenities you have here. Yes things are cheaper ,but so are wages. Ive checked its over a $10 an hour pay cut for me over there. Plus cockroaches bigger than your hand. Wheres the surf???? over there. where else can you go surfing and snowboarding in 1 day if you really want to. Ray help so. ca. and move already you can sell the legend and jump into one of those slapping skeeters.
