I sold all of my old green curados. Replaced them with the Revo S model. $100.00 Reel. Blows the curados away. Best $100.00 dollar reel i've ever seen or used. Very low-profile, light and cast a mile. Try em out, you won't be disapointed!

How are they in terms of durability? I know of a few people that have some mechanical issues, requiring them to send them back to the manufacturer similar to the issue people have been facing with the Fuegos. Is this an issue with many others?

Ok, you didn't think I'd stay outta this one did ya Long?

Let me first qualify that I serve on the Shimano Pro Staff, have for a number of years, and do not make a habit of slamming other mfg. 's products, and will not start doing so here.

I know all the differences between both reels, positives and negatives. Time will bring these to the surface, I can gaurantee that for sure.

Here's one thing that has already proven itself out. Since the first of the year I have serviced nearly 100 GREEN REELS. Most of these reels are nearly 10 years old, and still crankin', and believe me most had been put through it.

Now when anyone can bring a low profile to market that becomes the benchmark for every other mfg. has a shelf life of more than 10 years, and continues to be supported by it's factory, then I'll be impressed.

Until then the catch phrase I love to here is , "just as GOOD as" a Shimano!

What is tempting people is the price point perhaps. But as the ole saying goes, you'll get what ya pay for.........

But then again, like I said, I"M BIASED!

For me the smaller more ergonomic grip is where it's at. I sold the Curado 200dsv I won at a tournament and have three Revo Sx's. I am slowly getting rid of my Daiwa TDA's however the SX's don't handle 20lb flouro well.

have you guys seen Skeet's new Revo?!?! it's supposed to be out in the fall for around $280. I believe it's a suped up lighter STX with a longer handle.

here's a vid with Skeet talkin' about the reel...courtesy of Tackle Tour

I am on the Abu Garcia pro-staff as well as Cody Meyer. These reels are honestly the best baitcasters I have ever used and I know Cody has told me the same thing. I have been using them for a year and a half without a single problem with any of them! That truly says something in my opinion! Good luck!

Been fishing my 'S' & 'STX' 1.5 yrs., 2- 3x/week no problem. I have put these reels through all a basser could, & they've held up just fine. I notice no performance loss....just a bit of boat rash...

I have the Revo s, SX, and STX. They Rule!!! The Revo s like Mulligan said is the best $100 reel on the market. The SX is a little better with more bearings a magnet cast knob for $150 and the STX is basically a prettier version of the SX for $199. The dont make a 5 to 1 ratio like the curado for deep crankin though.

I have 2 Revo S' and the rest of my reels are the older green Curado's. The moment Shimano made the switch to the newer design and increased their prices they forced me to shop around. I'm still partial to my Curado's but also wouldn't discourage anyone from purchasing Revo's.

Im a total Shimano guy, always have been. I'll say this, the Revo's are cool and it would be the reel I go to is Shimano pisses me off. Hell, I could of picked up 2 Revo's for the price of one Calais

Has any else noticed the magnetic brake control on the Revo (mine is the SX-L) does absolutley nothing? I am beginning to suspect that something is wrong with just my particular reel.

I hear ya Dan and never did I say that the Curado is a bad reel. I think that reel will be the benchmark reel like the old Ambassedeur 4600C and 5500C is. Just about every bass angler that I know owns one or more of the green Curados.

Another good example is the original Castaic reel. I use three of em regularly and have three back ups and always look to add more since they're not made anymore. That's probably my favorite Shimano reel.

But due to the remodel of the Curado D series to a larger body and higher price point, I think some are looking for an alternative reel, and the Revo offers a nice package of benefits at a few different price points.

Now the Core....that is a sweet reel....

No worries Long! Nothin' but love here! My motto, to each their own! There are definately alot of great reels out there right now.

Let's just wait and see for how long, and if the support will be there
for them. I know Shimano will be. That's what sold me on the company when I wasn't affilliated with them........remember back when you were selling me Magic Worms and such!

Anyway, good to hear from ya! and yeah, CORE rocks!

i had some revo SX from last summer which back lashed like crazy. I swapped them out with some quantum tour PTs.

However, I do want to try the new STX, apparently the magnetic brake was improved.

I am and have alway been an ABU Loyalist ...

Started with 2 old original Shimano Bantams (before mag break even back in the early 80's -- I have them packed away somewhere still) Then went to the ABU Rounds - The brake was alot better..... Though I did like the low profile of the Shimano back then.

Later went to the ABU Pro Max series when I was inland salmon fishing. Tried the Diawa's at the same time and they all stripped the gear engagement gear within 1-2 years.. The ABU's have never failed and are still today rock solid as out of the box with battle scars! When Luke started fishing I took one of my old C3's in to have rebuilt at The Hook and it is still flawless.

Since I got back into fishing I got a new Record #50 .... Then progressed to the Revo SX - Both reels are Awesome !! Then placed over the year 4 more STX's ...... Got Luke his own SX .... Got a Revo Premire dirt cheap at the Sac ISE show... and now I need one more SX for a frog/punch on 736 that is without a reel still.

I have also bought the Shimano Currado 300 for my SB rod -- and that is VERY NICE. The Diawa Viento -- That cast very nice as well ~ but the twitchin' bar is a joke and there is no need. And the Quantum Accurist for a Flippin' reel. Both the Viento and Accurist "features" I found out I have no need at all for and the ABU's can more than fill with their unmatched smoothness, consistency and superior drag up to #28.

I am greatly dissapointed in the Revo Premire tho -- It does not have a drag at all like the other Revo's ....Not even 1/2 the drag !! Thankfully I have it on a very light pole with light line that I can easily thumb.

The boys each have a Green Currado that was given to them graciously by Borther KDOGG before I started to go in deep with our savings in this sick sport. ... Sent them in to have cleaned and reworked but the drag on them no where compares to the smoothness and precision on the break and drag dials of the Revo's.

Shiumano is/has been offereing a $50 mail-in reboate on the Currado's ... They are feeling the heat BIG TIME from the Revo series and are trying to put more in the hands of others knowing that they are overpriced by a better product.
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.
