FOCL Benefit tournament at Castaic this saturday

Post by DL »

For those of you sticking around this weekend, there is a event that is perfect for those wanting to share the tournament world with your son, daughter, or wife. This is a great chance to fish a low key, fun event and raise money for the Junior Lifeguards at Castaic.

With temps forcast for the mid 70's and the fish just waiting to go nuts, there is no better way to spend a day on the lake :D

Here are a few links to information about the FOCL charity event this saturday.

Starting about 2pm, they will have the chili cooker out there again like last year, should be delicious...will have product to raffle from Roboworm (thanks again Randy!), Val at Action Tackle, and Peregrine Boat spray wax, courtesy of Roger Laroque. Who know what else we might be able come up with, might get some other items at the last minute...

I've got a pair of Costa Del Mar "Osprey" fishing glasses with 580 gray glass lenses for the raffle. They retail for $209:

I can probably also scrounge up a 6" and an 8" Huddleston Deluxe ROF-12 swimbait, as well.

See you there!

Rule #2. Is that 13" mouth open or closed?

What are the registration times?

A last minute reprieve

Post by Ron C »

With my boat currently up for sale at Anglers Marine and unavailable, it appeared that I was going to miss the second annual Friends of Castaic Lake "Bassing for Kids" charity tournament at Castaic Lake tomorrow, but I just got a call from my good friend John Barron inviting me to fish it with him.

My son Tim and I fished the inaugural event last year (finishing in second place - but more importantly first in the Adult/Child category) and we were planning to fish it again this year, but unfortunately the event conflicted with the due date for my Ranger. Tim is ok with me fishing it without him, but only if I give him any prizes that his raffle tickets win.

This tournament is a ton of fun and is geared towards family participation. If you can make it, you will have a blast. Even if you cannot or do not want to fish the tournament, come on up for the barbecue (awesome Chili Dogs!) and the huge raffle, which will begin (around 2 pm) at the West Ramp.

Hope to see y'all there!

Ron C

PS: Thanks jb!

Hope it comes off. My friend went there yesterday morning to pre-fish & the lake was closed because of the wind. He couldn't even launch. Came back to the Pudd and caught 'em though.
