Kelly sez ....

Post by Kelly Ripa »

I stood in the back and watched the Casitas Proceedings and went home ... without an acceptable solution and closed minds at the controls of my life. The next morning I checked my e-mails at 5:00 am and got a hold of the nice young man who was standing in line for my boat and we set up a Saturday meeting at Castaic. I sold him my boat and drove away to my bank. I then drove back to Casitas where I had a pre arranged meeting with the gent who had been trying to sell his pontoon boat there. I bought it and as of now I have sawed off the front 11 ½ feet of railings and am re carpeting the front where I will mount the HUGE new motor guide with the lowrance 510 next to it. I felt bad getting out of my Champion (Rick G thank you so much for all your information and help over the years) and if my boat had been 5 years older or in bad shape maybe sacrafice her but I was caught flatfooted and had no option of putting the boat through the gates after the fact....but I just could not live without access to the water and solitude of the moment. I feel like Forrest Gump driving it but ( 25 long shaft Merc.) it floats and I have access to the lake barring anymore Jackhole politicians or politically posturing Water Boards. I'd really like to tell that swarmy so and so P.O.S. Water board that I got their message and my answer was yuck fu....

So my friends, I have friends with boats and will make new friends with boats and we as fishermen have never been tighter than now. I never did go kick bass and take names with a fish'n rod as I'd dreamed as I just never had the time because life always seemed to get in the way....I am hopeful that this change in my boat status will be a good thing. I live 3 miles from the lake and hope to get in many evenings this year. It may take me a while to get this boat together in the right manor and while I really do like my new job it will be tough for me to miss the coming weeks of fishing as I have a pile of work coming that is of massive porportions.... but I will at some time be out on the water and that water will be Casitas!

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call.
Call Alice
When she was just small.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the door mouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head."

Rip,
Hold the fort for the rest of us until the pols. get their heads out of the sand, and finally address the whole boat cleaning issue, since the mussels are here, and to ignore it is stupid and short sighted.
If the State doesn't take the lead, and, by it's participation, preempt the local water boards, it's going to be a long, long process.
By the time the rest of us get back onto Casitas, you should have the bass their trained to jump into you boat. If they can't make it up the pontoon sides, try installing a fish ladder.

Why do I feel like someone just gave me some shrooms
Cool deal on the boat. Two motorguide 109's one for each foot would be dope. You should stick a Habachi on that thing and grill some Bratwurst while you're bed fishing...

I actually considered making the boat a key club....Like a condo timeshare.....Even if you snap off the motor I already have purchased a replacement...

You forget John that Jana is Blonde....but it's a lot of peroxide and it might be causing Drain Bamage.

I told her that she is the spokesperson for the Ojai Yacht Club as she has the most teeth....

Rip

It now takes 5 minutes to get to a spot that used to take 20 seconds....It will be tought to get used to after more than 20 years in Bass boats.

Heck Jake, he could have 3 or 4.
Kelly, I remember Jana is Blonde, I also remember she swore she never fish with you again (her loss). I guess that ride at clear lake a few years ago really got her. As far as the 5 Min to get there instead of 20 seconds.....well, I think I could deal with that. I should be availible to help next weekend if you need the help. Let me know bud.

Rip,
Is that the trip where you lost your front graph because it was so rough?
I remember bumping into you at Cachuma, and you said you'd lost your front graph.
That must have been rough. No wonder she won't fish with you again, although she'd probably be safe in the 'toon.
Maybe you could trick it out with a lounge chair, chaise, and T.V. with DVD player, and lure her back. And a fridge for cold beverages, of course.

I broke my LCX 15mt up there on a different trip...

The Clear Lake trip in question was anything but rough. I drove around for 2 hours so she could look at houses and finally pulled up to my best water and had her throw a drop shot...Swing miss/repeat...She misses 20 fish and finally connects...8 pounder reeled straight to the boat no nonsense no finesse just wham...Great let's take a picture :x :x :x The on board polaroid is all we got and she be out of film...No problem we'll go to Konocti Harbor Inn....Pull in and buy $26 dollars worth of film...No thanks I just one roll  That is the price....Sweet let's go honey and take that picture...Now the problem....I'm not holding that fish she says  How do I take your picture with it??? She starts prancing up and down like a 5 year old waving her hands and tells me she doesn't want to hold the fish... ....I never saw an adult act that way in my life...Infront of a crowd at the docks....I put the thing on a weight system clip and she procedid to drop the poor thing a couple of times....There is a picture of it immortalized on my refridgerator so I don't forget the smoldering eyes behind the sunglasses and the best fake smile she could muster....

I was thinking it would be cool to do a pimp my ride thing and stick every toy I can think of on it...Drift sock comes to mind  ....My new (84) pimped out 25 merc That I got on e-bay was here when I got home...Sweet ...Long shaft/stainless prop...looks like somebodys grandpa in Minn. had this thing and went out for crappie's twice...The one soaking in the lake is tired but when she goes bang for the price of less than my electric trolling motor I can screw on a fresh engine as easy as replacing a trolling motor and away I go...I never drilled a hole in my champion....this might be fun...The nice thing about this pontoon is that it is not aluminum rather it's made of a type of plastic that is filled with floatation...It truely is like fishing off a dock  ...Hey Jake come over next weekend and I'll put you and Nunyo to work...The little womans gone John...Next weekend could be fun  you should see the fish at my dock 8)

Kelly, when you bought the boat and it come with a boat dock slip? If it did, you may have the dock slip rights and could Tracker Bass boat in it's place.

If you can't bring a boat through the gates how does that work??? Yes, I have a slip and a boat that floats... I'm not going to listen to what I could or should or can do by this water board. I have eliminated their B.S. and will be quite happy to not ever listen to it again.

Hippie...Sorry man but I don't understand  Ha ha it's Prolly me. Desert lakes...you can have them...Not intrested except for maybe Stripers...Ummm! unprocessed fish tacos

Just a suggestion; you could check with the ranger and ask if you can replace your boat with another one, if the old boat is out for extensive time for repairs, like welding the pontoon floats. The replacement boat must meet all the criteria, be clean & dry and not used on any other lake other than Casitas in 2008. You could take until December to fix the pontoon leaks.

And Jordan at Anglers has my old Tracker 175 he's going to sell. Needs a trailer, the bow eye rewelded, and electronics and trolling motor and batteries. He tested it, and it didn't leak, even after it got jacked so hard. One dent in the left rear (passenger) corner.
That boat knows how to catch fish.
