Hey LMartinez,
I know of quite a few people that use spinning gear for senkos. I have done it before and I personally like it. I just dont fish them enough to get a set up for them on spinning gear. It is a great way to get them senkos up under docks where you would be hard pressed to get them with a bait casting set up. You can skipp senkos with the spinning gear so easily its like stealing candy from a baby! Heck just ask Bill"Tulle Bender" about it. If I were going to get a set up for them I would get a med-hvy rod. Because its still light enough for open water while still haveing enogh power to get them bigger fish out of cover with a relative ease. Also with spinning gear you get a straighter fall out of them as where with a bait caster you will get a pendulum swing on it. I hope this helps!!

Where ya throwin 'em?!

I'll toss them in "open" water with spinning gear on 10 lb mono, usually Texposed and the occasional wacky with the O-ring. Sumthin to think about, skippin them little sausages is a breeze with a spinning outfit, you can get 5-7 skips out of them, over a distance of 25-40 feet pretty easily, great for dock and low cover and just too fun to do :D

I use my medium spinning rod with 8# flourocarbon to throw senkos. Its also my dropshot and little crankbait rod.

My setup for skipping docks at Clear Lake with Senkos is:

Shimano Symtre Spinning Reel
Dobyns 704SF Spinning Rod

I use 8-12 lb mono and fluro depending upon water conditions and some other factors.

I'm with Stock on that skippin thing....much easier on a spinner.

I use a Loomis 843 IMX, Okuma V-30 spooled with 20 lb braid, 15# fluoro leader. 4/0 ewg, 5" senko. Works well in post-spawn/summertime.
It's just a beating.....till you fight back.

Open water & Docks 7 foot Med Hvy spin rod with 10-12 lb floro wacky rigged, you can not beat the ability to skip it and the accuracy.
Toolies and struckture 7 foot Med Hvy baitcaster 14-20 lb floro T-Rigged.

When is Clear Lake ever going to warm up?

Delta setup:

Shimano Crucial CRSX72M 7'2''Medium/Extra Fast spinning rod, Shimano Symetre 2500 w/17lb mono backing off the spool, 20lb PP braid mainline, spro swivel, 4-5' of 10 or 12# seaguar invix flouro, owner downshot hook. I prob run more weight on the bottom of the line than most to try to punch thru cover

robo mm3's, aarons, and sculpins in oxblood along with senkos go on the hook

No kidding. Last year at this exact time Kennedy was knocking um dead with the Hud and the Basstrix. The water was much warmer and much clearer across the lake.

I'll be back out there tomorrow, perhaps the lake will warm up 5-10 degrees between now and then :D:D:D

I only fish them with spinning tackle...well almost always anyway. I cant seem to keep a tight enough line with casting gear to suite me.
