WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
Why aren't message Signatures being applied to my (and by the looks of it, many others) posts?
Nothing serious, just thought I'd let the staff know.
Keep up the good work,

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
I asked the same question a week or so ago. I received a PM that it was because of sponsorship issues. Totally makes sence to me.
However, what about allowing what many of us do and just use our catch phase signatures?
Just call me Tule Bender
I have to remember to post that from now on.

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
yeah yeah thanks for the advice Kop....It's either fishing shows, fishing forums, fishing books, fishing magazines, or actually fishing that consumes any free time.
Unfortunately, I'm not going to be at CL this weekend. I've decided to give the FPT a go this year, so I'll be up at Shasta. Thanks though. We still need to get a day on the water together. Maybe a day on the Delta? Where do you usually launch from? Lets talk.

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
There were two posts here by buzzbait. One was acceptable and the second, because of the size of the graphic, was deleted. It was a good example of the misuse of the forum graphic capability the forum offers.
If graphics are kept to a reasonable size we'd likely allow more of it to go in here. But there are some that post subject matter or graphic content that isn't acceptable. And as we can't be here 24 hours a day to monitor the forum posts, we decided to turn off the signature capability for the time being.
We're looking at ways to bring the feature back but it likely won't be for all forum users when it returns. May even be tied into a membership feature, for those that wish to join the website and gain additional capabilities and deeper content access as well as forums functionality such as the signature line usage.
It's something we're still examining.

Twist that sponge maybe a nickel or dime will appear.
That being said. If I purchase add space in my signature
do I get a free Hat ?
Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
Signature space is not for sale.
Gas prices around me are over $3.60 a gallon and will likely keep rising. That drives up the price of nearly everything else.
Other fishing websites have membership areas and those members get additional access and privileges. We're deciding whether or not to go that route. The website will still be free to use, but just as you have to register to post, we might bring back or open up additional functionality with membership status.

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
Ernst,
It's written here in two posts in pretty clear English.
Last time I checked BFHP, BASS, FLW, and BASS FAN and other fishing websites already have membership areas or privileges as part of their websites. You can either chose to become a member or not. And we haven't decided whether we're going to go that route or not. But the site is still and will remain free to use.
What's so difficult to comprehend about that?

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
Why don't you guys just disable HTML codes permanately in the signatures? Then we wouldn't be able to put any kind of graphics in our signatures. Is it not an easy of fix as it sounds?

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
We thought that giving folks the means to include photos with their posts would enhance the forum. It's not something that we want to eliminate because, when properly used, it is a cool feature for users. It's the few that would want to misuse or abuse the feature that makes it tougher on us. Cause then we have to delete a post or delete a graphic and somebody starts yelling about how much we censor posts.
Nothing we do is correct to everyone, but thats just the way it is.

There is a lot of sponsors on the top of that page. More then any other site I go to. BUT maybe a small fee would be a good idea. Those who pay it can get a sig pic. OR maybe those who pay can get a % off one of the sponsors?

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
sTony;
Some people just don't get it do they !?
Although you try to be patient with them and hopefully bring them along as you would a child who is misbehaving and just wants it there way on not at all. But after a time your patients is worn thin and we react to the action of the petulant little brat who decides to throw a temper tantrum in the middle of the store. That is the time as a parent we decide that it would be better to bring out the switch rather to give in to it. If once you do give in to his demands, you will always be held hostage to them in the future!
N.C.B.Y.F. & Western Bass Has always been about Bass fishing and the forum you support. It is a privilege for us to use as you see fit to allow us do do so, as long as we play by your rules.
If you decide to charge a small amount to further the enhancement of this site, that would add more to what I and many others feel is already the very best that is offered . I for one will gladly pay a fee for that service. Just as it is your right to turn us off it is ours to do the same.

Re: WB STAFF: Message Signatures?
NFR! Sorry Tony I can't help it sometimes, the kid in me still wants to play.
I understand your contemplating a fee to use certain parts on the site. When BASS starting pulling this kind of stuff, it was the last straw for me, and I let my membership lapse.
I'm not feeling the same way about your situation. Maybe it's cause ESPN owns BASS and they're a bunch of gazillionaires. If you do go that route, I hope you find something that will make paying the fee worth it for us. I have been let down way to many times from promises of all this neat and shiny stuff, just to find out I would of done better with a prize from a box of Cracker Jack.
What ever you decide, I think I'll be around. I stiLL think this is the greatest fishing site going.
