Does anybody throw the carolina rig.............
anymore? Seems like a lot of us have gotten away from it. Never hear about it anymore. Last week at Clear Lake it was such a funky bite I wish I had the carolina rig with me the way they were picking up the jig. Fishing was tough. Seems like some of the fish were bedding offshore. Bloody tails. I'm almost certain the carolina would have gotten me a few more quality bites. Any input appreciated. D.B.COOPER

same as anything else, could be a couple taps, one thump, or even just pressure. Hook sets are free, just swing at will! LOLBassinFever wrote:Would someone tell me what a hit feels like with a CR?

Love em in our Sierra Reservoirs, 3/8 to 3/4 oz weight, and 15 to 20# FC line with an 8 to 12# FC leader. Anything you can imagine will catch fish with this rig, I prefer a Yamamoto 5â€

Is it me or are c-rigs hard to cast. Having the sinker 3 ft up the line from the bait makes it uncomfortable for me. How much line between the tip of the rod and the sinker should there be before casting? How much distance between swivel and hook?

My go to bait is the Zipper 3.5" Grub. My standards are senko, Chompers lizard, and Sweetbeaver.g-man wrote:So who's c-rigging what?

Greg, I use to have the same issue, the Citica Reel that I purchased took care of this for me no more overruns and I can cast a mile.

Re: Does anybody throw the carolina rig.............
Here's a quote for yeah coop-
Peter Thliveros says the drop shot has become a go-to technique for a lot of pros who used to throw carolina rigs. He used both to win the Bassmaster Memorial at Oneida Lake, NY.
"Both techniques are designed to catch finicky fish and work in many of the same areas," he offers. "You get ore bites on the drop shot, although there are days the carolina rig will perform better."
Me personally i use carolina rigs a lot fishing lack oroville-slow dragging small worms for spots- a lot of guys use a split shot-which is basically the same presentation with a smaller sinker-for large mouths the carolina rig can also work when the fish wants a slow presentation or you need to "hide" your sinker from the fish-otherwise i will often use texas rigged worms depending on cover/structure-
either way i would say use what your comfortable with but the carolina rig gets bites when everything else fails-

Re: Does anybody throw the carolina rig.............
It can be tough to cast, but I start out with 12'' to 18'' from the sinker to the rod tip to cast. That seems to be my comfort zone.Greg_Cornish wrote:Is it me or are c-rigs hard to cast.
