Food for Oil
I read where foreign country's were jumping on our Sec of agriculture over the rise in food prices... So I got to thinking about how much food is raised in the middle east... It might be time to raise the price of a bushel of corn to match a barrel of oil, with subsidys for us of course.... They will starve before we run out of gas....

Re: Food for Oil
most of the middle east eats rice and other products grown in the asian continent
although many many imports are from the US... medicine is a top one that I've heard
it really is disgusting when the oil industy is making record profits and we are having to pay record prices... but the inflation rate of gas is still under the national inflation rate of all other products so i guess we cannot complain too much
my friends dad works in a high position for chevron in kazakstan (sp ) yes its a real place....and they are producing as much oil as they ever have

Here is a little fun fact about rice consumption in the USA
There is a large domestic industrial use of rice for beer. In particular, the largest user is Anheuser Busch for use in it’s Budweiser beer.

another fun fact!*NM*
The USA is the 4th largest exporter of rice amd is considerered the leader in high quality rice. The US actually won the world taste test held in Japan. Thailand is the biggest exporter in the world, since 1981.
So, taxing rice could be a possible consideration..... hmm!

Hey there is a idea. Charge the middle eastern countrys the same price, per barrell, for wheat as they charge for grude. I wonder if the price would not go down. Don't give them that wheat (UN, Food relief, etc) for free. Bill K

Fun fishing the country, each and every week.

I thought we were changin our food into fuel? and that is part of the rise of food costs, of course the 4.00 a gallon doesnt include the federal tax on fuel of .25 that goes into affect this summer.

Someone once said it's immoral to use food as a weapon, but, since when is it moral to use the fuel that is used to grow the food as a weapon?
