Wicked Craw

Post by bassman84720 »

I am looking for some feed back on this cool looking swim bait. It is 4 1/4" long, and seems like it would be a killer bait. I know a guy that has done very well with it in Texas.Image

Looks more like an awesome flippin/pitchin bait to me! I agree Dub-I'd like to see a side view-it almost looks like it has a curled/curved tail like a crawdads tail tucked. I'd give em a try for sure! Tight lines-

Ha! So you know a guy in Texas that has done well on them? Or you were given one in Texas? Which is it?

Why would you need feedback on a bait you have fished before?

Get yer story straight! Sounds to me like you're selling your baits!

Two things one the one thing you CAN NOT say about this erm swimbait is that its a knock off and two if those fish weigh what those guys claim then I didnt have 12.5-13lb on the Delta on Saturday I had about 25lbs

Nice try there bump and run but I think you've been called out.

Man, what a tough crowd... lol... all he was asking for was feedback, and only got it from 2 people....whether his story is true or not, or the size of the fish are accurate... I dont see the issue, just give feedback on the bait, or dont...and not one person welcomes him to the site? it's just instant negativity towards him, other than from basstamer and steve... In all reality, even if he is fabricating the story, it's nothing out of the norm of bass fishing... no one is 100 percent honest in this sport with everyone they encounter..... No one, actually I take that back, Cooch is... ;)

Anywho, life is too short man, be happy !

I think the bait looks awesome bassman84720 , wish I had the creativity and knowhow to make such a bait, could use a few more colors though... and whatever your intention is, WELCOME to the site, and if it is in fact your bait, keep up the good work! We all gotta start somewhere..

The pics seem to be user submitted pics. So far the ones I looked at seem legit.

The bait is cool, I would try it no doubt. I woulnd't call it a swimbait, it's more of a creature. Looks like a nice flipping bait.

I thought I was more on the neutral side. I guess I did stir the pot a little.

I like the look of the bait and the potential applications, I don't see the colors that I want though.

Bassman don't sweat it, it's just a bunch of whiners with little better to do with their time. It's a shame really, this site used to be one of the priemer bass fishing sites around.

It's definitely an interesting bait, how have you been fishing it?

You can fish it by running your line through the nose, through the mojo weight and a treble hook, or a 5/0 wide gap hook for fishing it weedless. Thanks for being cool.

This is kind of an interesting bait. Two things strike me as odd when I first looked at it. That swimming appendage, is upside down versus how we see every other paddle tail like bait. Secondly, it's on the wrong side of the crawdad, I mean, I seen some strange looking crawdads, really weird ones down in the Amazon, but every crawdad I've ever seen, the claws are on one side, the tail is always opposite.

Whether or not these are good things or not, only the fish could tell me. Would I buy them if I saw them in a store, no, I wouldn't. Would I be willing to field test them for ya if'n ya sent me 50? Damn right I would! Cooch's Fishing, 5000 Sandmound Blvd, Oakley, CA. 94561 HAR! HAR ! HAR!

Its amazing to me how people love to frenzy with the negativity on these message boards. Sometimes i wonder if they were ever told if you dont have somthing nice to say dont say it at all. Most people on here know my real name and i understand anything i type directly reflects on my character. I can say a lot of negative stuff but dont feel the need to. This site should be welcoming and encouraging. If ya dont like somthing be somewhat diplomatic instead of venomous. Its as simple as saying "i dont like this bait". On the flip side I think this is a somewhat tight knit group of fishermen that have been spammed in the past and are cocked and loaded to fire on spammers. Lets all at least give the guy a small benefeit of the doubt before we pass judgement and burn him at the stake. Maybe he is just a small lure crafter trying to make a dream reality and wants to know the opinions of his market without getting thrashed for not being a paying advertiser. He may not be able to afford it just yet. If we can be a little more hospitible maybe he will once his crawdaddy wheels are turning. The message board deal is trick and multi faceted. Cooch the bait doesnt have to be anatomically perfect to work well. I personally like the design and will buy a few to see how they work. I love new innovative stuff period. Case in point - Chatterbaits look like nothing but work spectacular. Cooch stop whoring for free baits you already have a pile of yamamotos. Ill take the 50 and whoop yer butt with em!!!! There is a way to handle these things and both sides need to handle these topics a hair more delicately in my opinion. Just my 2 cents im off my soap box now!

Hey Lunker punker, Thanks for the good word, My friend is the designer and as I said before I like it and I wanted to pass it on to fellow fisherman. Odviously you are well known on this site, and it is my first time here. I can handle the bashing, because as you said it does show your true character. I don't show up at a tournament and trash talk other fisherman, I just leave the proof on the water. For those who do like it, let me know and thanks again, Lunker

Ok, so perhaps I pulled out Evel Knievel a little too quick, as Jeremy said I have seen many bump and runs with spammers. Usually when you meet a group of guys the conversation doesnt start out with hey i got something to sale ya.... with that being said I apolgize for being a dumb arse.

Bassman, don't mind Ash, he's REALLY new at this moderation stuff! He's actually a jig guy, and he's learned from me quite well, hence the turn around and butt smoochin he just gave ya! HAR! HAR! HAR!

Now, I don't know how good this dude works, but it is an interesting concept. Flip or pitch that craw in and swim it out with that ol paddle thumpin away. Hmmmmmm The best of both worlds?

I took a quick look at the profile.. might be really good for a deep water flip bite.. with that tail causing a lot of vibrations in the water...

I'm not too sure about using it as a swim bait but wat a good chatter bait trailer!! If anyone gets a couple let me know how they work..

At $7 a pop, I'm not using it for a trailer...

I like the idea of pitching/ flipping it and swimming it back in short burst though. Also, the tail action could be very enticing in deep water. I'm don't know if you're going to get a straight drop from it though.

Why didn't they just make it with two smaller paddle-tails for the arms/ pinchers?

 Wicked Craw indeed!!

Ya know, there was once a time when the unnamed Brush Hog was a "No fish would ever eat that!" kind of bait...

I think it would have some serious topwater potential with all them parts waving and splashing around!!

We always need new innovative baits on the market, or what would we have left to buy off the shelves...ya can't keep buying the same stuff over and over again, can ya? :?

Again, Nice Bait!

Exactly. The guy is selling his "buddy's" baits plain and simple!

First it was, a guy in texas I know did pretty well on them. Then it was, I was given one and Liked it. Then it was, just as I thought from the beginning, his "buddy" is the maker of the bait.

Too funny.

It really is an interesting bait

Post by Jim Conlow Sr. »

It appears to me that it has many features that will apeal to bass. I truly dont think the bass sits back and contimplates on whether it is something that he and his ancestors have been eating for 50,000 years. I think mister and missus bass just think "wow aomething to eat", and suck it in.

I suspect that they will do that with this bait under the right circumstances. I am willing to test the bait and report on it if I had a few.

It kind of reminds me of a potato bug which we used to catch bass on when I was a kid 65 years ago.
