Now that you mention it ... I have been meaning to call this last month. I signed up last January at the Sac ISE and have only recieved one issue so far (2-3 months ago. Some dude kneeling down on a yellow boat for the cover.)

I went a couple weeks ago to log-in on line to see if I have been missing copies and it will not accept me.

Anyone know off hand if there are 10 or 12 issues in a year for BW ? That would explain some of it for me if there was only 10 per year.

I'm pretty sure there are 10 per year.

To say anything else seems to be pointless. They just kind of show up.

funny this thread started and i had just called them yesteday wondering where my issues were? Well they are behind, the January/February issue is the latest, the March/April is going out this week, then in a few weeks the May/June issue is going out, but heck then we will be into July for the July/ August issue. They mentioned they will get the July issue out pretty quick, so looks like we should see these magazines within weeks of each other. Love the mag and dont mind waiting, its great content, but if they publish a calendar for shipment they need to try to stick to it. heck we pay our subscription and shouldnt have to wait. Oh well..

BassWest must have the most incompetant editor in history. It amazes me that for 2 years now since I first started reading the mag that they still have not figured out how to get the magazine out in a timely fashion or how to ship it properly to avoid delays.

It would be nice just to get one issue on time while the info is still current.

One thing BassWest is very good at is "making excuses".

Can't wait to get my Mar issue in August

Hey Guys,

Here is the deal.

We have been behind in the past, but it has always been because the magazine was going through a change in order to make it better in some way.

The next issue is printed and ready to go.

The following issue will be done in two weeks.

From then on it will be on time with issues current to the time of year. Changing editors is a HUGE deal, and I know excuses aren't worth much. We really do want to put out the best bass magazine possible and will continue to strive to be the frontrunner.

I'm certain that it must be frustrating and as a reader myself I know when I get the issue I'm stoked. So give our new system a chance and enjoy the content.

The current Issue is online for subscribers to get a preview of.
Looks like a great issue! I can't wait to read it - looks like some great articles!

Craig Gottwals with Randy McAbee on Pardee is one article I really look forward to reading.. A great writer (and fisherman) with an outstanding angler should make for a great article!

I have a question....

Post by basstamer »

Is BasswestUSA the same magazine? I saw a commercial for it during True Bass I believe? I have had this discussion before with them...I personally subscribed because I wanted well....a Bass magazine about the WEST yet there were always these tournament results and articles about lakes back east(as well as here out west) now my concern is with the name change its going to be even more about bass fishing in the US and not the west-I want a magazine about the WEST and the WEST ONLY-thats one of many reasons why I no longer get Bassmaster magazine. I love the magazine-the quality, the awesome photos,etc-gotta admit I too hate the constant time delays too but its a good read when it does come.Just wish it was truely Bass'WEST".Tight Lines-

I may be overstepping my boundaries as I no longer really work there. I do help out with some things web related mostly for them though.

But I can tell you that the magazine is all but 4 pages about the west. Its 92 pages and 4 are about Angler's Choice Midwest and Eastern results - That is 95% western waters, general technique or similar articles.

Keep in mind that some destination pieces like the Lake Erie one from last issue are for those guys out west who would like to travel and catch fish in other places. I for one read that article and am now trying to figure a way to work a Lake Erie vacation into my plans!

I am not defending Bass West USA - but, when you compare it to any other Western only magazine there is no comparison! Plus - because of the schedule not being months and months before its release date - (which causes it to be slow at times) the articles are much more current and accurate to the actual fishing.

If you look back through older Bass West magazines and compare them to Bassmaster and even FLW magazine - Bass West has more new hot products that later get covered in those magazines than vice versa. So if you want the scoop first it's Bass West - and that comes at the cost of timeliness of printing.

Again - I am only giving you my opinion of the magazine and I no longer have any control over what is in the magazine, when it gets printed or anything else.

No worries Scott - I was just laying out there. That is a popular comment. I know when I was involved I heard that a lot.

The Angler's Choice insert took the magazine from 60ish pages to 92 pages when they combined the two. So a lot of people missed the fact they got 32 more pages and only a dozen or so are for Angler's Choice.
