The site gets upset when you have a brand vrs brand thread. Especially if they are sponsors of the site.

The Kistler is hands down noticibly lighter and as for sensitivity I would again say Kistler. I own 3 of the MG Flippin sticks and have handeled the Powell flippin sticks.

Both are excellent rods, you would not go wrong with either..It is unfortunate you cannot make a side by side comparison at one of your local shops..I have several rods by both of these manufacturers, but do not have the specific rods in question..Truthfully I enjoy using both brands and am not disappointed in either in any way..

I don't fish either brand, so I am giving a general answer.
All tackle is so good nowadays, with computers and the same factories making blanks and fittings for most of the major brands, that you probably can't go wrong.
If you live far from a dealer, I'd check the warrantees of each manuf., and maybe let that tip my decision to one or the other.

chrisjam,
there is a delarer in Ma.. give them a call..if they cant help, try calling Kieth at Powell 888-635-9763

Bear's Den

Taunton, MA 02789
Phone: (508) 977-0700, (866) 977-0700

The powell rod is one of the most sensitive lightweight rods on the market. what type of rod are you looking for? you can see the specs on the website and the new price point for this year makes it a very affordable rod..

http://www.powellco.com/index.html

Im not familiar with Kistler so i cannot provide competitive benchmarks. Tackle tour has done some for both companies..

good luck..

It's unfortunate that you can't get your hand on these rods as they are very different in action.

As for Quality: Even.
Sensitivity: even
Weight: Not sure because I don't have similar powers between the two.

I tend to think the Kistlers seem to be more parabolic than Powell rods. But again, the rods I have aren't comparable in power to each other.

I've been very pleased with the quality of both brands as well as the sensitivity.

I doubt you'll go wrong with either brand but you should go with the brand you CAN get your hands on if you like the action of the rod.

Good Luck

I agree I have fished with my buddies Kistler rods and they were sweet, light, strong, did their purpose.

I have a Powell flippin stick and love it - plays fish well, sensative, strong.

If you have a local store that supports the kistler that you can trade in a rod if you have an issue with it that may be your deciding factor. Both rods are quality.

Just my observations....

But over half of the guys I see fishing don't even have their rods in the correct position to utilize the sensitivity, might as well use an UglyStick.....

It's all in how its handled by the users Tulle Bender. When the pro staffers start getting involved and beating each other down then we get upset because it's happening all over the web and it does a lot of damage to web sites like this one. In this case, so far, folks have been responding with info the original poster can use, and thats a good thing. That's why sites like this are here for folks.

Both are good rod companies either choice would be a good one. I own Powell rods, and love them, But I have used many Kistlers and they feel very nice too.
