Forrest L Wood Championship

Post by mac (Doyle McEwen) »

Seems the weights are not as high as one might expect..A few of the Western anglers are in the running after the first day..This is going to be a tough tourney to win..

I am just finding it crazy that the majority of guys are scounging to get 5 fish and weigh in 9-7lbs, yet Mark Rose is at the top with 20lbs.

That is just amazing!

What the heck could he be doing that is so different that gives him 20lbs and the rest of the field is getting 7-9lbs?

Im not sure if you saw Mark weigh in, but he really isnt doing anything different then the rest of the feild. He said it him self he was just lucky to get 3 big bites. His other 2 fish were 1 - 1 1/2lbr's. One guy got lucky with a 7lb 11oz big fish, Mark just got lucky 3 times.

Some how, I missed the weigh in, but got the info off the standings sheet..Truthfully it sounded like most of the guys had the kind of day I normally have on the Delta, catch some, just no size to them..

Cleb: that angler was David Fritts and it goes to show you, it can happen to the BEST of anglers. He said he was catchin' 'em fast and furious and just lost track. David is an awesome fisherman (and an old friend) and I know he's beating himself up but will still come in with a great sack tomorrow regardless. Maybe even make a check????

Did he just come in with 6, or did he bag them and take them to the scales also??? I guess it wouldn't matter, as either way it's a DQ, but seems like he would have counted going into the bag?

David apparently DQ'd himself when he realized he was one over. It sounded like he realized his error during the day and made the call immediately. There is no five second rule for a 6th bass in the livewell.

sucks to have picked D. F. to be in the top ten....like I did!

Oh well, still looking pretty good for my other picks. I seriously doubt that the bigger weights from today will hold up.

Rose might just be kicking himself for not conserving after getting that 7#er.....assuming the reports of the sequence of catches is accurate!

The cagy veteran...L.N. is postioned nicely...... :D

I'm sure some guys are managing their fish. The weights zero out after day two when the field is cut.

From what I got while watching the weight-in was Fritts got back to the check-in area and that is when he noticed he had 6 fish.At that time he DQed himself.
