FLW COLLEGE FISHING

Post by Steve Reed »

Alright guys,

So thanks for all the well wishes and the calls today, I appreciate it! It was awesome and one of the coolest things I have ever been apart of.

But the coolest thing about this weekend was talking to FLW about their new college program.

This year FLW will be putting together a college circuit which corresponds to the Stren Series. FlW will charge no entry, provide boats, and have a pro fisherman giving you the scouting report.

To enter you have to be in a bass fishing club at a 4 year college and enrolled as a fulltime student.

I will keep everyone updated with new information as I recieve it, but this seems to be one of the best opportunities for younger guys trying to break in. Hopefully we can get fill up the 40 team limit at the Strens.

DANG!!! I would TOTALLY be ALL OVER that but I am not in a 4 year college, I am going to Los Medanos( a Jr. College) Heck I would even START a bass club there to get a peice of this!! What 4 year colleges around the bay area have a Fishing team?

I am about 10 year too late. Does graduate school count? What do they consider fulltime?

Steve, have you hit those ponds in North Davis? They are loaded with bass-at least they were when I was a student. I used to hit them everyday before or after class. Me and Ish even caught a smallmouth out of the one North of the Safeway near the 113.

Steve,
Congrads on the great job in FF. I have been noticing all the new info on College fishing, it looks great. I wish it had come out a few years ago, as I'm graduating this December from SDSU, and could have definately come up with some other guys who would be interested. It will provide great opportunities for future college fishermen though. Wish you the best of luck if you get involved, neat deal for sure.

Yup...
Im already pretty much in. Im going to be attending Stephen F. Austen State University in Nacodoches, Texas about 30 mins away from Sam Rayburn. This program is great. I have a real good friend that fished these events when they really were not as big and he says they are growing BIG time back there. I got an opportunity from my friend back there that I couldn't say no to... It should be a blast!

If anyone knows someone who goes to UC Davis or will be there that is into bass fishing, please let me know, as I need a team partner.
