Smallmoth fishing

Post by wl1193 »

Hi. I want to go river fishing for smallmouth bass. I live in Roseville and I am close to the Feather River. Can anyone give me some general locations I should go to? I have a boat. Thanks.

I've heard tales of pretty good smallies up the Feather around Marysville/Yuba City...I don't know if there is a group of folks who fish it regular and are very hush-hush or if people have just lost interest with the river up there. I don't know if it's just tough to deal with the relativley swift water up there or if most of it is too shallow for most bass sleds.

Check it out, it might just turn out for ya!

Close to roseville would be lake clemintine over the foresthill bridge. Baby brush hogs, small cranks, and tubes. Good fishery. Feather is better but you will need a drift boat or a pontoon. The entire stretch of that river from oroville down is honestly comparable to the john day in oregon in the right conditions.

I had no idea there were Smallies here in the river. I own a Salt Water Aquarium store about 5 mintues from where the Yuba meets the Feather. I have caught some small ones by the dock but my Bayliner can't run in that shallow water and it's hard to Bass fish from the shore unless it's a pond so I have never tried. I'm going to make it a point to get out there now!!

I second Georgiana, my buddy and I got on a lot of smallies up to 2.5 pounds on jigs and cranks.
