I was sitting in corinthian bay dropshotting one 8 to 10 inch bass after another. The wife called on the cell. My buddy Gregg kept hearing me say Oh Sh*t, Oh Sh*t. I told him and we only said a few words the rest of the day. I remember being glued to the TV like the rest of you I suppose for days. Whenever you went, people were tuned in.

Watched that memorial service from the Pentagon this morning and they read off the dead in order by age. First on the list was a 3 year old girl. That really pissed me off. Better pray McCain wins, he wont let the fight die. Rick G.

Last night I went on the NYFD's memorial page and got pretty teary eyed and upset-today I watch "The World Trade Center:Rise and Fall of an American Icon" on the History channel,my sadness is again replaced by rage and hatred.I was pretty much raised in the firehouse and the brotherhood that comes with it and to see the engines arrive and these guys hustle in the buildings is almost too much. Regardless of who you are and who you support for president I hope you base your support on who will try to keep this from happening again and will also continue the hunt to make each and every one of the bastards pay with nothing less than their lives the way our people did and also continue to do. May all the victims rest in peace and their families know they will be avenged .

Here's a great Youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2EYMbIFcrE

I'm not going to be posting anymore political commentary in this thread about Democrats Versus Republicans on this matter because 9/11 was a day that united us all for a time with the knowledge that freedom isn't free. I think I'll remember it as that kind of day. Lets unite again today remembering this event.

National Geographic had a really good program on a week ago, entitled "How It Was: Voices of 9/11" (http://ngcblog.nationalgeographic.com/n ... f_911.html).

It was an insider's view on the tragedy, with much of the public 911 tapings and personal perspectives of some of the survivors. Highly recommended viewing.

I'll do a quick search and see if it airs again - BRB.

I'm not finding listings for another airing, but here's a link to the video on the NGC site:

Sooooo true G-what a difference it all wuld have been if it werent for those people and that plane would have made it to the White House huh? Kornys link to the Utube video is pretty cool-check it out.I pulled into Vegas at about 0300 sept 11,01.I parked where I was suppossed to load Gypsum the next morning and went to bed...I awoke to alot of noise waaaay to early-I stumbled out of the sleeper and out of the cab and looked up and the fighters from Nellis AFB looked like a swarm of bees! I had no idea what was going on but I fired the truck up and pulled into load-thats when the loader operator jumped up on the cab of the truck and said they were all headed to Iraq to kick some tail did I want to go with them? He then went on to explain the events of the morning and such.I loaded then went to the truckstop to weigh out and I couldnt even walk in the building so many drivers were crowded around the tv's watching the news. This was right after the plane went down in Penn and everyone was jumping to conclusions speculating,etc....nobody had a clue what was going on.It was unimaginable that we...the Unted States of America were being attacked right on our own soil and in this way none the less! I got back to the truck and called my wife and kids-I told momma to keep the kids home from school(you never know!) and I started my way back home.I will tell you I have been on the road for damn near 25 years and I have never felt more isolated and alone than that day-that was the longest 400 miles of my life and I hope we never have to live it again, but I also hope that we NEVER forget it and the fire it instills deep in my gut always burns in us all. Tight Lines and God Bless America.

My buddy called me in the morning and woke me, I couldn't understand what he was saying. "What do you mean terrorist hijacked plains and flew them into to the World Trade Center?" WTF????? How do you comprehend something like that over the phone? Then I turned on the news and watched the second plain hit, my heart literally stopped. I'll never forget that day as long as I live.

I read most of the post made and I notice the same thing "Never Forget", why is this even coming up? How can you forget the day we learned as americans that we are not bullet proof. I remember a year after 9-11 a country singer singing a song titled "have you forgotten", I was like are you kidding me? Granted in most things in life we as individuals tend to move on, but really There is no way in my heart and mind that I can ever forget the loss of life on this day. The people that risked theirs lives and gave up their lives to save their fellow american is what touches me. Innocent people that worked normal jobs deffinately stood up to the plate on this day. The individuals of flight 93..WOW...no words can really express what they did, when most would have been stuck to their seats from shear terror, these individuals showed the intestinal fortitude that they werent going to let themselves be victims and instead stood up like true heros and saved an unknown number of lives, by giving theirs. These my friends are hero's, Just like our men and woman in the military, they are out there defending our freedom, knowingly giving up their freedom to risk their lives so something like 9-11 doesnt happen again.

It really bothers me that after 9-11 I saw people standing on a corner protesting the war. These people in my mind are just as bad as any terrorist IMO. How dare people question our military and not support our boys out there putting everything on the line for our country.

Bottom line everyday on the news WE are reminded that we are fighting a war and everyday WE should automatically know that this war is becuase of 9-11. Support OUR TROOPS and make sure that you vote the next election the right person who is going to make sure that WE dont have to send our men and woman in the military back to Iraq for a third time, for if this happens everyone who has lost their life over there was lost in vein.

I know what you mean paul seems like a lot of people forgot , they just dont get it, if there freedom was taken away they would be like the sheep that they are now. I was working at Aerojet when John Kennedy was assinated and at AeroJet when 911 happened. Both times I seen grown men break down. On both days there was a total lock down as you well remmeber and Granny and I were glued to our small portable TV by the Auto Clave As for the Sacramento Bee that rag of a news paper is hurting anyway as well they should be. Well the talk shows aren't letting it go by and most are appalled at the way the media and the public is treating this tragedy. Seems like to some its just another day in there lives. I cant believe our government hasn't made this a national day of mourning, they do for everone else. Just my $.02
How can anyone forget.
GOD BLESS AMERICA

If you guys get ticked off listening to people talk about the events of 9/11 you should walk a mile in my shoes. I am in the military and have been to IraqX2 and Afghanistan.

People wonder why we have not caught Bin Laden yet, google something called the Church Committee. Most Americans don't have the back bone to let the U.S. military do what we are capable of.

I dreaded being stationed in CA because all I saw on TV was actors talking about the war and two elected female government representitives from CA. I am glad to see you guys are not what I thought I would encounter here. Thanks for your support.

Most people do support the troops but there is a few that is way out there and is stealing air from the rest of us. The president issue is a whole different story. My father in-law is a good example. He is a Democrate, hates Bush, and told my wife that he wished McCain was a Dem because he wanted to vote for him but would not because he is a Rep. I encourage all to vote for who they think is best for America, not for them or their wallets.

This morning we got out one of our Fire Trucks and hung a 50' American flag. We need to remember not just our troops but our Firefighters, Police, and the families that were there. I think we are forgetting these people also that tried to save so many lives. While others were running away, these other individuals were running to the burning buildings. As a firefighter it is almost offensive that no one is mentioning the firefighters and cops that were there. Yes, I am behind our troops because my family has a very extensive history in the military. I am 100% American and always will be. So all of you fellow Americans hold your heads up high because no one can destroy what we have. Mike

The average person tends to run away from fire, the true heroes are those that run into them..Most people laud the performance of our firemen and policemen and it is well they should..I hear people say they support our troops but despise the war, The war is their job, and I believe they do it very well indeed..When you hate what our troops are doing, I cannot see that you support them at all..It has always amazed me that most of those that say they support our troops but think the war is wrong are the same ones who would not defend their country or their freedom at all..Yet most say they would, it is just difficult for me to believe..

I know exactly what you're trying to say Mac, however the average person should run from fire. Many lives are lost every year by people trying to save their pets and belongings without calling 911.

Exactly.

Seriously, if we are calling it a WAR, play it like a WAR. If you are going to do it, DO IT. After all, how do you win a war???

Without getting into the Dem's vs. 'Pubs argument, suffice it to say that we (already) have too many politically correct pansies controlling our government ("Well, we don't want to hurt anybody" ). . .

Get in, do the job, get out. I certainly don't condone "lighting them up" with mass quantities of escaping neutrons, quarks, etc., but we have and could easily deploy conventional or other "specialized" weaponry that would quickly neutralize the adversaries and be done with it.

And if we/they don't have the cajones to do that, call it whatever they want and bring 'em home!
