I have a Minn Kota Powerdrive PD40 and the propeller all of a sudden stopped spinning but the steering still works fine. When I turn it on and push up the food dial, I can hear it click but no movement.
Any suggestions with regard to the problem, how much it's going to cost to get it repaired, or a repair facility recommendation? I'm in Stockton, CA. Thanks!

Re: Trolling Motor Help
Hey Dude,
First check all your electrical connections under the pedal and behind the plate on your boat where it plugs in with a voltage meter, if all is well there, check your motor, what happens alot is the bushings inside the motor where the prop is get real dusty just like your breaks on your car, the dust has no where to go and it can get thick in there, if you get a leak than you have the makings of cement or little rocks that will lock it up. I had this happen on my Motorguide on my Ranger and My buddy had the same thing happen to his Minn Kota on his Ranger. Here is the temporary fix, put a rag over it and tap it with a hammer, this may loosen the rock or what ever is locking it up but you better take it appart soon and clear it or send it to a shop, I almost lost my tourney entry fee because of it, lucky a guy showed me how to take it appart and I fixed it my self. If you want to take it appart yourself, take off the prop and you will see 2 bolts, take those off (they are long and skinny) and you can take it appart and clean it out.

Try the Minn Kota Man, San Ramon.
Re: Trolling Motor Help
Unplug the power before you attempt any repairs. I know it sounds simple but, you wouldn't believe how many in experienced people forget this part.
