Anyone else get this "odd" email from FLW?
Was looking through my SPAM filter and found this email from Irwin L. Jacobs...Thoughts?
My Dear Friends:
I am sending you this e-mail out of great concern that I, as well as every other American, should have over the extreme high energy costs that every single individual and business throughout the U.S. has been experiencing, particularly over the past year.
The present and future substantial increased costs for energy as a result of the recent energy crisis our country is going through, I believe, has and will continue to drastically hurt our country even more so in the future than in the past. The impact of the present
energy crisis has already seriously affected every Genmar boat company, as well as every Genmar dealer, every one of our employees, our customers and our vendors. The substantial increases in oil in just over the past year has already taken its toll on every single person, business and community throughout the U.S. However, what concerns me even more so now than in the past year is what every individual and business in America is going to be paying for energy in the future if we don't do something about the U.S. energy crisis today.
I believe that every U.S. citizen should be seriously concerned that if we don't find a permanent solution relatively soon to the energy crisis in America, regardless of what business(s) anyone is in, no one will be able to escape being permanently impaired by the energy crisis now and particularly in the future throughout the U.S. and most of the rest of the world.
The fact is, there is a present solution that will serve to be a bridge to change the energy crisis we're experiencing in America today and that solution is the T. Boone Pickens Plan. Rather than trying to explain the Pickens Plan to you in this e-mail, I urge
every one of you who receives this e-mail to go directly to the T. Boone Pickens Web
site - http://action.pickensplan.com/genmar to learn all about what you can personally do in helping America break away from our being held hostage on foreign oil. Further, I urge you to personally sign up immediately and join The Pickens Plan in order to help
save America from going broke on its continued reliance and being held hostage on foreign oil. It won't cost you anything to sign up now or ever for the Pickens Plan and, further, you should know that Boone Pickens isn't making one dollar on his campaign to
save America from its reliance on foreign oil. In fact, Boone is spending $54 million of his own money just to market his campaign on saving America from foreign oil. My friends, you may think you can't individually make a difference, but on the contrary, that's not true. You can make a big difference and if everyone of us throughout our great country works together in helping to change America's reliance on foreign oil, we will in fact make a permanent, positive difference for our country now and in the future
generations for every single individual who lives in America today and for decades, if not centuries, to come. Not only am I urging you to sign up for the Pickens Plan but you need to share with and urge every one of your employees, their friends and families, as well as your friends, families, your business associates, vendors and local and statewide politicians to join the Pickens Plan.
I've known Boone for over 25 years and I can tell you unequivocally, Boone is singlehandedly attempting to change America for the better for every man, woman, and child
who presently lives in the U.S. and for our future generations. I've recently had several one-on-one meetings with Boone and I'm totally convinced that Boone is personally committed to saving America from its reliance on being held hostage on foreign oil as
his legacy. Even though Boone is 80 years old he's been working and travelling almost 7 days a week and working 12 to 16 hours a day to get his story across America. Please join me and let's help America for the sake of our families' future generations,
employees and everyone else throughout America both now and in the future and join the T. Boone Pickens Army in permanently changing our great country's reliance on being held hostage from foreign oil.
You can and will make a difference. Get the message out there to everyone you know to sign up today for the Pickens Plan. It won't take you but a few moments to help change America for the better. Thank you and take care.
Your friend,
Irwin L. Jacobs

I did not want to give them my e address, even though there was a link below to skip it. Did a search and came up with wikipedia info on it, pro and con.
Major wind energy plan to get 20% of our power. Interesting. We gotta do something, that's for sure.

Something doesn't add up with Pickens. I just read that the wind farms in the NE are sitting on power because the power transmission lines are at maximum capacity. If infrastructure is not expanded how can new sources come online? All good ideas for the future but if Jacobs wants to save the boat business he better be pushing for drilling in ANWR and on every coast until we get throught the crunch. 400 billion a year is being siphoned off our economy by oil producers.

Say what you will, T Boone's plan is better than most of the ones I have heard or seen..Are there problems associated with it, hell yes..Can they be dealt with, once again hell yes..Is it a perfect plan, highly unlikely, as a perfect one probably does not exist, but it is a good solid plan..The biggest problem with it is long before the government will even consider it, they will have to spend a ton of money on feasibility studies, most of that money going to some brother-in-law that just happens to be in the business of studying things..And it would not surprise me if all the study came to the conclusion of is the project requires more study..

I think that's very much a part of what the Pickens Plan is all about. GEt the message to congress and the executive branch that they should have some focus on doing what we can at home and part of that would be to expand infrastructure at home to accommodate more use of such energy sources.
I for one applaud T. Boone. The guys putting his money where his mouth is and that in and of itself is refreshing. Will America respond? I suppose time will tell. In the mean time we get to watch the politicians talk about a number of topics that just amount to going around in circles in a never ending partisan merry go round.

If this stops all politicians would be out of a job. Now really how bad would that be. HA

I am 100% with Pickens. His ideas are right one...and when I lived in NorCal in the late 90's I had a small windmill on my ranch, the state use to charge me if the mill produced more power than i needed (which it did). So i ended up paying PG&E $$$ to have the excess power put onto the PG&E grid...yeah...I LOVE the PRK...
I'm behind wind power just not in CA...sorry and NG is what we need to get off the cord of foreign oil...

Any new oil from ANWAR, or any other new field, is ten years away.
Plus it's just perpetuating our reliance on fossil fuel, which is a leading cause of global warming.
Picken's plan sounds good. Part of the kind of solution that, along with solar and geothermal, will help get us off of oil.
If I remember correctly, that's what Jimmy Carter prescribed back in the 70's. I wonder where we'd be if we'd implemented his programs back then.
Of course, if we could harness the hot air coming out of Washington, we'd be energy independent immediately.

MARK ..you say drilling for more oil is ten years away . unfortunetly this is what the liberals were saying ten years ago ..had we started then we still wouldn't be free but things would sure be better..
