Bass Pro Shops In Manteca !!!!

Post by TopJimmy »

Well as most everyone knows Bass Pro Shops is opening a Store in Manteca. But what some havent heard yet is that it's opening NEXT WEEK they are having a consevation show of sorts on thursday evening the 15th and are going to be officially open for business on thursday the 16th. I am excited about it myself I was lucky enough to get to visit the one in Springfield Mo several years ago and if you have ever been there yourself you know why I'm excited. GO broke cause you will spend all you have it's a very cool store. And for those that live real close I have heard they will do ship to store so if it's not in stock you can still get it free shipping

I don't need to be the fastest guy on the lake, Just have the heaviest bag at the scale.
As long as it will haul me and my Limit to the scales it's a great boat.[/b]

Just in time for my arrival up North! :D WHOO HOOOO!!! Now I won't be missing my BPS in Rancho Cucamonga!

Great news... adult Disneyland for sure!

Tell me what you have stocked in your bass tank - how big are the lunkers???

Can't wait to check it out and compare it to the one's that I've been to in Rancho and Vegas.

I been to the one in Rancho Cucamonga (?) a few times when visiting my girl at UC Riverside and drove by the Manteca one last month, looks to me like it might be a little smaller than the one in Rancho, might not have the restaurant in it.

The one in Rancho is bigger. What they should have done in Manteca is make that entire plot just for Bass Pro Shops. Then, it could have competed with the one in Springfield!

Tuesday, I trained all the sales people on Mercury engines. The place is coming along but there is still an unbelievable amount of work that needs to be done. They will work 24/7 to make sure it's done by opening day though. Regarding the Bass, they are all staged in a huge above-ground pool right now. I saw several in the 5 - 8 pound range. They looked really hungry as they followed me around.

BPS does not carry the personal service the same as The Hook and Fishermans Warehouse..... We may go when the hooplah dies down and then grab a Costco dog ... But I have to be in Manteca for a reason first before that ever happens,

(Now FINGERLESS Wool Gloves and mask -- DeltaLuke, DeltaJack and myself do need ..... and Wally and K-mart BOTH punked us for those in Contra Costa and Alemeda Counties as they did away with their version of suppling the Outdoorsman in anything anymore.

I can tell you that THe Hook has the new Wadda Bombs just placed in stock ... And they produced BIG TIME today for his client and himself !! (This #10+ is nearing on BrothA Coochie'coo's 30th personal 10+ pound bass for just THIS YEAR alone !!)

You're right about that Dan, but it is a fun place to go once in a while.

I'm figuring the local shops such as the Hook will always be the best place to go, much like we have Anglers Marine down here as our go-to, but every once in a while you have to stop off at Disneyland just to see the sights and ride the rides!

Heck - I love going into the one in Vegas just to observe the bass in the tank and watch how they behave. 8)

Keep the local shops busy???? Isnt that THEIR job???? I would say it is and the way to keep them busy is actually compete-too many times you go to a store and they are trying to pay their rent with the sale of a crankbait! I wont mention any names cuz that just wouldnt be cool-as far as customer service goes every BPS I have ever been to the people were polite and trained in their department. Again I aint mentioning names but the last time I went to one of them here in San Jose I got to listen to the young lady behind the counter bs with her girlfriend while i stood there in disbelief-I will estimate I had about $120.00 worth of stuff on the counter that stayed right there-my money then went to two others in South San Jose and I will NOT be back in that store. Is that the kind of customer service your looking for in a "local" shop? Not me-I am there to spend my money and get out on the water not stand around in a sponsor shirt talking about it! Only my .02 gents but I will be frequenting Bass Pro every chance I get and loving it! Harry i will meet you there and we will talk about when Eastman USED to have water in it! Keep on Truckin' Brother....Tighties all-

Heya Mark-good to hear from ya! I actually went up a couple weeks ago and did well-also hooked a 4' long cat in the back with my crankbait but just as the net touched him he hauled tail and straightened the hook! Even empty I still love that lake-took Bassbones up there and I can safely say he aint a fan!

Basstamer, you have brought up this specific shop and incident you had in San Jose more than once. I appreciate you not mentioning the name of the store. I shows alot of class on your part. I was working in the store the day that happened and I remember what happend very clearly. It was embarrassing for my self as well as some of the orther employees. I can assure you we have taken the appropriate steps to assure this will never happen again to you or anyone else. And the cashier action have been corrected. Although I do not work in that specific store I do work for the company. I do hope that you could eventually look past this incident and give the shop a second chance, we have been making some positive changes and adding a mix of exciting new items. My sincere apologies for this unfortunate incident.

I think the big box stores hire anyone that can fog a mirror. Went to one to have braid put on a reel and had to tell them to put backing on first. They didn't have a clue and it took three of them about 45 minutes to get the line on. So, unless you have a one-on-one relationship with with a shop, it's all a crap shoot.

Does the NEW BPS in Manteca have any plans on supporting our tournaments on the delta. If they do, I've not read, or heard of anything. My $$$$$$$$ will still be spent at the HOOK, where Gene & Michelle do a tremendous amount of work to promote fishing on the delta.

After the one in So.Cal. now has been open here for a couple years here is how it shakes down after a while. Most of the original employees they hire in the beginning are all gone, including the GM, the Boat Salesmanager, and the Tackle Manager. They have very few fulltime employees, so the benefits and overtime are not an issue. They only support Tournaments thru Org's like Won Bass and their Nitro Contingency program, no local hands on down here at all. The Vegas BPS did support the Mead events so it depends on the Manager. Yes they are cool to visit no doubt. But support your local store. Rick G.
Anglers Marine has been serving Southern California boaters and fishermen since 1981, with the West's largest bass fishing tackle store and the best boat dealership on the west coast.
