Haters and posers

BPS??? Looks like BBF on the sign... Bait, Beer and Food...

Do they sell soapboxes? I usually order mine from Bass Pro.. They have sum mighty fancy ones... Back in the early 80's.. When a guy had trouble finding a decent spinnerbait at a local bait shop.. BPS and Cabelas were out there spreading the gospel of lure selection, quality, and building up the proliferation of soapboxes into the mega industry that fishing is today....

Here is an interesting little tid-bit... Annually, the sport fishing industry makes more money that the top three grossing professional sports combined... Plenty of money to make the fishing world go round... Where else you gonna find a quality soap box at a better price?

I remember, not long ago, when the windows down at the The Hook said that they were a BPS store. And I'm betting that they still are. So what's the fuss? How many times do you think an angler from Oakley is gonna wanna drive out to Manteca? And once you get there you find out they indeed are a super store but they don't carry a lot of items that the local guy does.

All this negativity is actually quite funny.

We are all free to spend our money where we want to. If you do not like BPS, do not go there. Thousands of other do however and they also support local shops. It is great to be able to spend Ceasar's money where you want. Bill K

I agree with sTony... I don't understand what all the fuss is about. If another tackle shop opens up I don't end up spending less at the existing stores. I end up spending the same amount of money at the local store and still shelling out extra dough to the new store as well.

Having BPS is a good thing not only for the local economy but it means that there is more selection. If anything in AZ the BPS is more of a tourist destination plus then tend to carry stuff that the local shows don't carry and vice versa. Besides that for those of you who have kids you now have a FREE place that you can take them for the day and just hang out. Try doing that at the zoo, movie theater or at a sporting event.

In the summertime in AZ we refer to Cabela's and BPS as the indoor zoo. It's a nice little staycation when the temp gets over 110 degrees.

A lot of stores having purchasing agreements with BPS. From what I understand it's the only way to get better pricing on some items or to get items you can't get from other sources. It's a norm out there. A lot of tackle stores have purchasing agreements with each other and other online retailers and so on. It's the only way to get a lot of things into your store that your customers want.

As far as pressure on stores to keep all their pegs filled all the time. It isn't possible for every store to carry every product all the time.

No I don't work for BPS. I'm all about supporting the little guy. But some of you guys really need to get a life. BPS is a good thing for you guys up there. It will bring more people into fishing/boating which will positively effect the local tackle shops.

I bet the folks in Manteca who now have a job in a tough job market appreciate BPS. I order some things from them because my local shop can't keep everything I need. I am glad we have both. I am also glad that there are some new jobs in Manteca.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about????????????? BPS has been around for as long as I can remember. I think my younger brothers learned to read from the BPS catalogs. Phone order, mail in order, and internet order is available to every person in the world. The building of a shop is not gonna magically persuade anglers from shopping at local stores. Now if they moved into town and started carrying Champion and Triton boats, Wadda bombs and triple trouts, sweetbvrs and Mother's finest.... who knows then. Just for example; BPS sells their bbp frog for 7.49, all the local shops are competitive with that. So I'm not gonna go to BPS for a frfog then to fisherman's warehouse for proworms. I'm gonna go where I can get both.....But if I need rain gear that's a different story. BPS can't possibly take buisness from the local shops. Any damage that could be done was done long ago by the internet.

I believe Mom and Pop are done, just as Jigs bait and Tackle is gone. Look around, try and get a government loan or assistance to open/run a business, and look and see who is getting the help and loans. Not the American born and bred. The foreigner gets it every time and its your money, your government.

Thats all I have to say.

Fishing today was perdy good with BrothA Sean ~ and polotics never even ONCE was conversed between us !! (IMAGINE THAT !! -- WE WERE FISHING !! 8) )

We missed quite a few blowups topwater before sun-up today ..... and some after on The Hammer with a more solid hook-up and alot of tail bumps later in the morning.

Targeted LM's by 0800 and prolly got near #16 before the wife called me home at 1330.

Can't say where we fished .... Can say we moved around quite a bit trying different things-- and some things the same staple as always. And that was the beauty of the day !! Image

Didn't look very hard.. did ya???

type in "obama work history" in google... 1st link...

"Barack Obama was raised by a single mother and his grandparents. They didn't have much money, but they taught him values from the Kansas heartland where they grew up. He took out loans to put himself through school. After college, he worked for Christian churches in Chicago, helping communities devastated when steel plants closed.
Obama turned down lucrative job offers after law school to return to Chicago, leading a successful voter registration drive. He joined a small law firm, taught constitutional law and, guided by his Christian faith, stayed active in his community.
In the Illinois State Senate, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families. In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator.
Obama and his wife Michelle are proud parents of two daughters, Sasha and Malia. "

You would be hard pressed to find the entire work history of anyone on the net... Employment records are protected by privacy laws... But barack's roots were not just steeped, they were grown in middle/lower class economy...

You have converted me?

There is a woman in our town who was homeless and used drugs for years. She made her way through life living with criminals and those who could not make it in real life, the under priviledged and with the low life of our area. Now after years of struggle, she runs a way fare center, aka food closet, for those who are homeless and down and out.

She is a great person with a million dollar budget. Locals have really rallied around her for her efforts, as they should.

She has experience in handling people on the street and has balanced her budget every year. Again she is a great person. She has more experience in the management level then Obama, But........... I WOULD NOT VOTE FOR HER TO LEAD OUR COUNTRY. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? But then I guess that is the answer in its self.

When My Son was 8, the holy grail of fishing to him was to go to a BPS store back east. He never managed to do so, but would dog ear the catalogs and wear out the pages from reading them along with his subscription to BASS Magazine.

He saved his allowance and managed to buy his first tackle box and some jigs through BPS. Some time later he bought his first rod and reel through them as well all through the advice of his fishing mentor and friend Bob Wager !

Then he discovered Gene at the Hook and its been Love of his store ever sense.

Even though he has been given some not to good advice from others at the store about line and such, I can never remember one time when Gene has not gone out of his way to take the time personally to help anyway he could to answer Matthews questions, honestly and not always have they resulted in a sale.

Now we have the big box BPS store in our back yard, Just like other Big Box Hardware Stores and others in our area as well.

Matthew and I still shop locally at Genes. Why!?

Its not for price, we can get it often cheaper some place else !
Its not for his inventory, some times empty pegs !
Its not because of his employees, Some I wont ask a question, because I know I just get B.S. to sell me something ! So I stay away from em.

It Is Because Of His support of OUR LOCAL PEOPLE, Market and the SERVICE that he gives after and before the sale is Made.

When I was a member of the B.B.A.C. he was always the first one to give me the fishing rods and other goodies for our raffles, bought our tickets for our dinners, and let me put up our posters in his windows !

Did he expect or ask for anything back ? Nope.

To BPS I would just be a number #

To Gene at the HOOK, I am a person with a name, who bothers to go out of his way to say hello, and ask how Matthew's Doing ? Even though its been a long time sense my son shopped in his store !

All educated accounts show Obama will win the election

Post by TWinger »

Even Bill Oreilly has said on his show:

The fat lady has begun to sing.

So I was sitting here thinking about what I have accomplished this week and the money I have made, and how it will be next year. I figured, I must get $20.00 per hour for my work of 40 hours a week. This totals $800.00 per week, $3200.00 per month. Not too bad for a month spent doing something you would rather not have to do.

Then wondering how it will be, I compared it to next year after Obama redistributes the wealth, taking money from me to give to others less fortunate then I, even those who do not pay taxes. So I took my monthly earnings $3200.00 and converted it too annual earnings of $38,400.00. Not too bad for an old guy who likes to fish. Now if Obama redistributes my wealth at even 10 % of what I have worked for, or gives $3840.00 of my hard work to someone else that does not even work and pay taxes as part of his plan, above the other taxes, fees, and living expenses I have to pay each year, this is going to reduce the number of fishing trips or tackle I will be able to have.

Not liking this idea of not being able to spend the time I would like and I have worked hard for fishing, I quickly reverted back to how I was raised. I know, I will work more and make more money to allow me to go fishing with my buddies more. Oppps, then I had to figure this into Obama's plan of redistribution. I make more, I have to redistribute more. This was at odds with what I have been taught and how I was raised. I had to totally readjust my way of upbringing and common sense thinking? I have searched hard and long for the answer to my problem. How can I fish more? I have finally come up with the solution?

Quit working. That will give me all the time I need. Then I just have to sit back and wait for Obama to redistribute the wealth to me from all those who will continue to work hard and have to pass on there wealth to me. I will not work, I will not pay taxes and I will not have to do anything but fish. Heck I won't even have to pay for my medical any more because that will even be provided to me.

Eureka, I have found the answer to life. I can fish all I want and get paid for it. I just have to quit, drop out, no more work, no more taxes, no more worries.

So My Friends, I am writing this to you all to let you know my outstanding answer to my life's problem and invite you all to join me in fishing everyday. Obama will take care of the rest. I will be the happiest person in the world. I have never been known to be happy, this will be life changing. People will even like me. Oh how I have dreamed of being like by the masses. Another dream come true. Obama is all they have been telling us he would be. I will begin to plan for my next trip fishing and the next and the next. OH JOY OF LIFE. GOD HAS SHINNED UPON ME.

Oh but wait, If we all go fishing and do not earn money, where will the Obama redistribution money come from? OH who cares I will be fishing, that is all that matters. As long as no one else decides to quit like I have.

My Friends, I have found my solution in life, but it needs your help. Please make sure each of you, my fishing buddies all show up for work each day for the next 20 years I expect to live, so that you can redistribute your wealth to me so I might stay home and go fishing. It is the least you can do for me and our new President Obama. Consider it as Patriotic.
