Ok am thinking of buying a true bass boat not the junk I have been fishing out of. Anyway I found a 1991 skeeter 17.5 footer with a 150 Mercury and newer 80 lb Motor Guide. According to the current owner it is in good working condition and the only real problem is the carpet is older, I have seen it and it is not that bad. So anyway he wants $3000.00 for it, is this a good deal?? Let me know.
Thanks

Re: 1991 Skeeter
I would inquire more about the engine such as: how many total hours; maintainence records (if any); long periods of lay-up (not so good) or used on a regular basis (sometimes better). Is a trailer involved in the deal, if so consider its condition and what it may need as well.

Re: 1991 Skeeter
I have, there is a trailer and is in good working conditions, the gentleman took me out on the boat and it ran great, he recently, early this year, replaced the lower unit and just had the engine tuned and all vacum lines and fuel lines replaced as well as a compresion check which showed all was well. Sorry I did not put this information up earlier.

If the motor is in good shape than it is a good deal. It is always worth paying a boat shop to do the inspection of the motor before you buy a boat. That way you know for sure.
Carpet replacement is not hard to do and can be fully done for under 300 if you do it yourself. Takes about 3-5 days (a couple of hours each day) I have done three boats. If you want me to walk you through it shoot me an email at schoolofbass@yahoo.com.
