OPEC IS AT IT AGAIN!!

Post by drrakruz »

Geez Louise!! Two days ago, gas was hanging at a buck 59. Today, the higher-end gas stations like Chevron, Shell and 76 shot up at least 10 cents overnight!! The Grinch is back, and he is predicting more profit for holiday travelers. Better fill up soon before it goes up another 10 cents tonight, and keep topping off until this crazy company gets the hint that we are SICK AND TIRED of paying for these ridiculous prices at the pump!!!!

CAN YOU SAY GREED????????

Even if gas prices were to remain at the current level and the price of oil did the same, the profit for the major American oil companies will remain about the same..Now out of plain curiousity, just how is the government screwing us, they don't own or operate the oil companies..You say they should put a fixed price on gasoline, then I suppose you also want them to put a fixed price on labor and all of the other things that isn't now under government control..Here in California our state government wants to put a "fixed fee" of 39 cents a gallon..Of course just to make you feel better they want to remove the current 18 cents or so per gallon tax..Now isn't that just so generous of them..

Good ans. Mac.
How about Us as the consumer back off on buying gas and oil products.
Slow down on the freeway. go slower in the boat. Next time you buy a truck down size, it and the boat. less demand. price will drop.

The U.S. consumes, lets change that to, The U.S. saves. It will hurt for awhile but in the long run, things will get better. :)

Not sure if you guys heard but the tolls on all the Bay Area bridges are going up and they're planning to eliminate the carpoolers lanes on the bridges and make them pay $2 or $3 to cross as well during the commute hours.

Why?

All this because Bay Area residents have cut way back on their driving. End result of us cutting back is that folks like CalTrans and Golden Gate Transit Authority are about to stick it to us but good.

That's where I fault our state government big time!!!! This coming at a time when property values in the state have dropped 44% overall, businesses have been moving their HQ's out of the state for the last two decades because the price to play here has gotten to be ridiculous.

Yeah, I'd say a lot of our problems here start at the State level.

Sorry for the thread jack, it all seemed related.

I dont think its a thread jack at all. Bloated Gov. has to find a way to get their funds. In a shrinking economy gov. service fees have to go up. And its our job to adjust our spending habits, so that we keep more of our money for everyday life and give less to them.
You havent paid a bridge toll till you take a three axle tractor with a 4 axle trailer over one of them.

Did anyone see the democratic budget proposal? They want to tax us more and charge us more fees. Thanks Arnold for the veto of that budget. Charge us more when we are the one's really suffering, I'm going to ask the GOV for a bailout, only 250,000 grand......... :-)

Oil is down to $39-41 per barrel, a drop of 72% in the last couple of months. Unless the global economy picks up, oil prices will not rise significantly because the demand is not there. US and China are the two largest users of oil and our economy is on the toilet. China has cut back sharply due to the poor US market which is their biggest customer. Lower demand = lower oil prices. California tax on gas excluded of course:) OPEC can cut production but at some point those nations in the cartel will cheat to try and get additional revenue and produce more than their quota helping to keep prices low (until we all start driving our SUVs and trucks again).

I will leave this alone – I gave up Politics for the Christmas season but I’m pissed at Government in general.

You think it is bad now just wait it is going to get worst. Just look at the bailout – they said it was to cover all of the foreclosures that the banks held – then ask yourself this question – how much was the bailout – then compare that to “if we were to pay off all of the loans of everyoneâ€

Yep, just went by the Arco in Pitt and it was $161.9...Closed for gas at the present time for some reason...The real kicker is the price for a set of tires...They're still going up, just checked Costco and they raised the prices on their Michelins...Hmmm?...
