Congrats on the win but from what I heard Mike you would'nt have gotten away with being the only one that knew of a change. The lake was pretty busy this weekend. Many upset pre-fishers. Word (if you can believe any) is May is the make-up date. Glad I just bought two new sets of Guidewear

Big fun zone at that 99 cent store?
They just called me so the calls are coming. No confirmation of a replacement date. I told Pat to refund my entry. They don't need my 825 plus the kid's 325 in their account.

I don't know how everyone else feels about this, but i am highly annoyed right now. You would think that those F***ing idiots(FLW) would post something on their website or start making some calls!!!

They were wrong for moving to Oroville in the first place.

It is the lake officials at oroville that have been confirming DAILY that it was still on and they could keep the launch ramp going. The tournament director has been calling them every day and one week suddenly the answer has changed?

They (FLW) have been calling since early this afternoon. It is just difficult to instantly make calls to 300 people.

Remember when if FLW said it you could take it to the bank?

Remember the guy that won a tournament and got DQd because his boat didn't have a Coast Guard placard on it and despite the argument that boats over 20' didn't have / weren't required by law to have CG plates, FLW said "The rules say you HAVE to have one", you don't, therefore, you are DQd.

Now you're lucky if they don't change the tournament 3 times.

Would it be too hard for FLW to let everyone know why they didn't go to Shasta in the first place? Trust me, it's not low water or lack of a ramp or facilities. If they want us to try to fix the problem, they need to let us know officially what the problem is. As it is right now, it's all speculation

flw did what was best for the fishermen, oroville only has one ramp at this time. If you don't like the decision they made then don't fish them. Stop the wining.

SAME OL SAME OL guys. FLW will get around to informing all of us INVESTING TOURNAMENT FISHERMAN whenever they "GET AROUND TO IT" Doesnt aggrevate me one bit the tournament got moved, of course I would of liked the tournament to be now on oroville but OH WELL. What aggrevates me is the fact nobody from FLW has come out and said anything or gave us a scenerio about "WHAT IFS" this whole time. Just really getting old, oh well I gotta get on a lake somewhere soon though. 2 months with no competitive fishing is going to KILL ME LOL

#2 I won't fish them, thanks for your permission.
#3 It's whining, not "winning" and that isn't what it was anyway.

Some of us aren't as "edjukated" as others, if the lack of water and launching facilities aren't the problem, why don't you tell us what you think the issue is?

How much time and money did you invest in this tournament? As things haven't changed much in over a month in the ability to get this tournament on the water, I think these guys have a right to be upset with the last minute decision.

Roberto don't mind that guy he's just a fool, who probably hasn't been able to find a pattern, and was praying this tournament would get posponed.

FLW called me tonite and said it was postponed. And I think it was a good call. They would be hard pressed to get 100 boats launched in a decent amount of time and then get them out of the water again within a decent amount of time. Its tough dealing with just the 40 or so boats they draw for tournaments now. If it happens in May then hopefully we have more water, a decent ramp, a better turn out, more lake to fish etc etc etc. And I know some are upset and thats to be expected. But you have a choice and thats to put it on the back burner till May and show up, or not show up at all.

Don't plan on it in May either. Time is so hard for guys to get off and not everyone will be able to get 3-4 weeks off in May to fish both the Delta Stren and the rescheduled Oroville Stren. Look for it to happen in the early fall

Wow from what I get out of this is you guy's only have one large Circuit that will even come out West.

Look's like it's FLW which I think stand's for Forrest L. Wood founder of Ranger Boat's.

I know you guy's want something big out here, and they should, but what else could it be other than the concern of even being able to launch a Boat much less a Hundred or more.

I understand not fishing Clear Lake in January,or when ever it is, but why in the Hell dont they just fish the Delta.........while they can.

That's my point Chad why couldnt FLW figure it out.

California is in a drought.Has been for the last Four Year's yet the Delta is less affected by it.Why cant a large Circuit like this figure it out instead of one Date and Venue change after another.

Good luck

Cleb, how did you do at the ABA last weekend, you mentioned you were going to fish it and maybe some of the A/C tourneys as well. Just curious how the fishing was for you, sucked for me...

No May Tournament

Post by Ricky-S »

Given the economy and number of tournaments that are within close proximity, I think that it would be a better option to have this at another time that doesn’t place an unnecessary burden on anglers that would have to take two weeks off in one month.

If history is a predictor of the future events, then last year should have taught FLW that is might not be a good idea to offer two tournaments in one month. Additionally, there are already those of us who will have two take two weeks of during March to fish the Stren and NG. This will most likely limit the number of anglers who can fish the event.

I think that there are other times, such as February, June, or even a 6 hour tournament on CL or the Delta in the summer (July or August) that would offer the anglers (most of which have jobs or businesses) a better option that would not present a financial burden on them (us). I would also suggest looking into fishing Havasu in early September.

Living in Southern Cal, I left my boat at a friends house near the lake and bought plane tickets to fly back. Who cares about the lost money. I'll go up and pick up my boat this weekend and practice for the WON on Shasta.

The money was gone when I spent it. I understand that things happen.

My biggest concern would be scheduling the event such that I would have to take two weeks off in one month. That would be a no go for me and several others.

Yeah I'm in the same situation as well. When I spoke with FLW yesterday I explained that I put a deposit for Havasu as a Coangler and wanted to know if they would do the following:

- Move my entry fee for Stren Oroville -> Stren Clear Lake
- Move my deposit for Series Havasu -> Series Clear Lake

I'd like to fish all 4 Stren's and NG Series, but I think with the scheduling change that I'm just going to fish the (4) stren events and NG Series Delta & Clear Lake. I explained that I don't think I could get that much time off so close together to fish Havasu and the Columbia River, but would play it by ear. FLW was able to get back to me later in the day and confirmed the changes.

I realize that problems do occur and that FLW can't control the weather. Given the situation they did the right thing and they've responded accordingly. In my opinion they're still the best int he West and i look forward to fishing their events whenever they come out this way. Personally I wish there were more FLW events to choose from (i.e. holding the BFL tournaments on the West Coast).

Jason I wasnt able to fish in the ABA I would of love to I was catching some fish in the week prior. (Prefishing for Stren). I will be at the next A/C Oroville now that the Stren has been postponed.

As for ROBERT AND WICKED lol. Let me be the first to tell you that spinnerbait has been investing time and money into the tournament and he had a damn good pattern, and he has won many of tournaments on that pond. I would know I FISHED AROUND/WITH HIM ALL WEEK. So simmer down lol.

Havasu in Fall would be great fishing and good numbers.

Oroville in Fall would be great fishing and good numbers.

Two tournaments weeks a part would hurt many of us.

May will be fine. Every buddy will be able to catch fish and that is when some bigger fish show up. I don't think they can do a stren event in the fall. I will be happy either way.

You really can't can't blame FLW for moving it. I dont think they really had a choice.

COMPLETELY WRONG DUDE, the guys won more tournaments on oroville in the last 5-7 years than most people do in a lifetime thats all. I personally know what he was on this past week and trust me he would of liked the tournament to continue. Ill be ready for wherever were going buddy dont you worry about that. First of all I am a very patient person, however this is bull@#$$#. Flw has caused a lot of heartache with this event, there is a reason why the big tourneys don't come to Oroville which a lot of you guys know. When was the last time the big guys fished Oroville? How much revenue was lost by Oroville from todays press release? Shame on the city of Oroville, or Bidwell Marina for not coming through with their promise, Shame on The FLW for beleiving that the Bidwell ramp would be ready, and Shame on Flw for telling everyone one week before the event. This call could have been made three weeks ago.

Why didn't Flw rely on their resources out west to tell them what was really going on, There are plenty of anglers out here that could could have told them that the water situation was bad, and guess what its not going to get much better, our snow pack is gone, and there is not much rain in site. This is going to be something that we just have to live with. It is what it is. And all Northern California River lakes have the same problem so why even take the chance.

This event was postponed and that is something we will have to live with. We in California have some of the best fishing water in the country and its a shame that we can't get the biggest circuit known to man out here . Oh well I should have known better.

Could this tournament still happen. I think so. Would it be a pain in the a@#. Hell yes, but I guess we will never know.

Guess my weeks vacation will be spent some where else, Cause it is to late to cancel it now!

Anyone suprised by this decision has been living under a rock!! Anyone pissed about it is going to have to get over it.....it is the right decision, wrong time to anounce it, but it is the right decision. Anyone with half an understanding of construction and weather could see this was an ouside chance of happening for the past six weeks. If you had to start launching boats at one or two in the morning, and didn't get off the water until nine or ten at night, you would really hear some bitching!! FLW is still the best circuit in the west, and they will do everything they can to reschedule....but they will fit it into their already busy tournament schedule, and since the Stren championship is in early Nov, it will most likely not be in the fall.

HAVASU ANYTIME... 2 events in the north and 2 events in the
south. Lets be fair in this sorry a#$ economy.
Havasu should be on all schedules every year just like the
Delta and Clear Lake.
Havasu is pretty tough Jan. & Feb. but off the hook the after
end of Feb.......MG

Co-Angler in the Stren events are the most profitable events going Pro or Co East or West. Hopefully we can fully support this series.
