Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
When I do the math WCB is keeping $24,900, yet WONBASS was only needing to take $21,000 and they were horrible ? Here is the WCB payback and their take:
WCB PAYBACK
Entry Pro = $640 per angler
Payback-90%=576 per anger
to WCB = $64 per angler
Boats 150
Total to WCB pro payments = $9,600
AAA entry = $340
Payback = $238
to WCB = $102 per angler
Boats 150
AAA TOTAL to WCB = $15,300
COMBINED TOTAL AAA and PRO TO WCB = $24,900.00
WCB PAYBACK
Entry Pro = $640 per angler
Payback-90%=576 per anger
to WCB = $64 per angler
Boats 150
Total to WCB pro payments = $9,600
AAA entry = $340
Payback = $238
to WCB = $102 per angler
Boats 150
AAA TOTAL to WCB = $15,300
COMBINED TOTAL AAA and PRO TO WCB = $24,900.00

OH _ _ _ _ here we go again.......

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
I BELIEVE THAT $ 30.00 IS FOR BIG FISH. AND $ 10.00 IS FOR MEMBERSHIP AND TV EXPOSURE ETC..
SO I AM NOT A MATHMATITION BUT
150 X $ 600.00 IS $ 9000 >>>85% PAYBACK LEAVES I ASSUME >>>>$ 13500.00 ON THE PRO SIDE
AND I THINK, THINK am's is $ 6750.00 WHICH I GUESS IS $ 20,250.00 total take in not including big fish and or small membership fee !
MINUS PERMITS
MINUS HOTEL FEES, BANQUET FEES COSTS
MINUS MEETING PLACE FEES
MINUS ANY LAKE FEES
MINUS STAFF COSTS, PER DIEM ETC.
MINUS DOLLARS KEPT OUT FOR ANY CLASSIC OR SO CALLED TOC ?
SO APPROX $ 100,000 MINUS COSTS. PLUS FISH FOR FREE AT YEAR END AT THE CLASSIC IF $$$ LEFT OVER OR SPONSORS PARTICIPATE ?? PLUS , PLUS, PLUS..........YOU TELL ME........I KNOW WHEN I HELP ONE, JUST ONE TOURNAMENT A COUPLE YEARS AGO SMALL 30 BOATS AT DON PEDRO. AT $ 200 PER BOAT, WE WOUND UP PAYING OUT OF POCKET WAY OVER $ 2500.00 JUST FOR SMALL OF THAT SIZE............I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW THESE ORGS DO IT AND MAKE ANY MONEY $$$ ????? NOT !! I MAY BE ALL WORNG ON THIS, I AM NOT A FINANCIAL WIZZARD OR I WOULD BE RICH...BUT GO FIGURE ???

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
Actually... It looks more like WCB makes 27,000 per event (before expenses) with a full 150 boat field. This doesn't take into account whatever expenses are defrayed by sponsor contributions or event fees paid by the host cities.
Hey... It's a business, the goal is to make money. I'm ok with that.

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
I haven't figured the numbers, nor am I going to, but thanks guys for taking the effort to do this. What I don't see taken into account is that the big fish is paid back at 100%. Also I think Pro pay back is 90% entry fee not 85%. Also, to my liking, these are the fun NorCal lakes that I miss fishing and look forward to going back to. It seems to me, since WCB left none of the other ProAms have been as fun or exciting as WCB was in it's "Glory Days" I for one look forward to Larry bringing it back. He was always trying to grow the circuit and each year was striving to provide a bigger and better tournament. I haven't been to a "Classic" or TOC that compared to WCB's since they left. Really, why do we fish these? I do for the competition, camaraderie, and pleasure of fishing. Few of us are going to pull off what Gary Dobyns or Mike Reynolds or a few of the other top fishermen have done, so for those who want to fish this shared weight format, have fun, and have the potential to make some money, this is a great opportunity. We have to get behind these guys and support them. If not then our only option will be FLW and they sure don't seem to have a great payback (for the Stren at least) and they sure as heck aren't as much fun to fish. Who can afford to go back east for a TOC? Not me! My discussions with Larry seem to support that WCB is starting at a 90% payback and when he picks up sponsors and gets things up and running, the money will be coming back to us anglers. Only time will tell if this is true, but if it isn't then he too will go the way of WON Bass. We ought to give him a chance though or we will never know. It could be a great opportunity for us western anglers. This I do know, our options are dwindling fast and if no one like WCB steps up, we will be left fishing team tournaments or heading back east to fish pro-am tournaments.

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
I know you two cheerleaders will come back and hit me with your pom poms but here is my take.
This thing is starting to stink. We "think" we are going to pay back 80, then 90 then 85 percent?
We will include TV exposure? What is the TV exposure?
We MAY have a TOC? We may not if we can't get a sponsor but you are paying for it.
Big fish payback is 100 percent? Where is this posted?
Call Larry? How about Larry call us or post the numbers.
I see some disappointed fishermen after awards presentation.
Give me a break. I'm out.

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
I doubt you see too many disappointed cheerleaders. With that attitude you probably shouldn't be at too many tournaments. All I'm trying to point out is that some of the figures weren't correct. No one would argue the National Guard is where the money is on the West Coast but who's got the 4K per tournament? Not me. For the money, I think WCB is the way to go with the POTENTIAL to get better. Of course, if you disagree then I for one am glad to hear your out because I'd rather see an opportunity and look to what might become rather than how bad it could be or how bad we MAY get screwed over in the future. Only one way to know for sure but if no one supports WCB then your prophecy will definitely be self fulfilling. My take only. No disrespect but cool it on the whole cheeleader thing. Just stating my opinion and another perspective.

Obliviously, Robert F. knows nothing about WCB and what Larry stands for. It’s a shame that people are so hung up on coming out ahead. This organization is not a “MEâ€
Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
There is a new thread pumping WCB every day. You guys doing it are mostly pumping it as they are fishing your home lake. Sorry but it is getting old.
They are hammering the backseaters. Why do backseaters receive so much less payback than frontseaters? Then they are expected to share expenses? There is no accounting for the 30 bucks "big fish" payback. If it is 100 percent, great. It will pay nearly as much to catch the big fish out of the back of the boat as it will to win.
You guys say that FLW is too expensive but you can fish a back seat in the Stren for the same money as WCB and the payback is 100 percent plus! Almost 110 percent if a Ranger owner wins.
For a little more up front you can fish for the same payback as WCB without a Ranger, add 25,000 if the winner is a Ranger owner makes the Stren close to 120 percent. I don't think NG is the only game.
Just providing a little sanity to the advertorial. I hope it is all you guys expect. I just see a lot of holes in the billboard...................and I am glad pom poms are soft.

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
This isnt rocket science it bass fishing if you have 150 to 200 boats per tournament you can bet your a$$ that it going to be a pretty healthy payback no matter how you figure it.

" HOLLY SHIZZLE "
does any other pro/am circuit pay back 90%????? how about "ANY" cicuit paying back 90%?????? heck no!!!!!if you all think it is sooooooooo easy and you become soooooooo rich, give it a try.................. everyone is so gung ho about putting doubts into everyone else....either like it and fish it, or don't....it's like an "OPTION" in a tourney..you get in or you don't......"OPTION"

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
OK for 27 gazillion dollars they are going to make let me ask: Are they going to have TACO's??

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
and then you wonder why the tournament scene is so bad? Its just to much B.S. and not that much fun anymore!!!The guys sound like little babies crying all over the place.......
I like to enjoy my time and experience when fishing with my tournament partners and on the front of the boat. I was going to fish the WON tournies but now i am not sooooo looks like a few team opens like the Holder, Snag Proof, Owners ect. There just alot more FUN and that is what its about isnt it?

Well right out of the gate your words are ahead of your brain. Home lake ??? Five different lakes, how in the world can that statement hold water ??
Why in the world does a fisherman/whatever, waste the time to try and find flaws, do his spell check, and have no intention to fish a particualr tournament anyway, but just sit there type and try to stir up crap. Its all beyond me. Why not try and find the good, and enjoyment in it all??I fish if I can afford to, or if I have no family diversions that weekend period. I do not look at flaws, or reasons to not fish because of poor payback etc. If I think that I am good enough to win, then for sure I am going to make money that weekend. Instead of looking for issues and bad payback bad freebees, bad this and that. Like I believe it was Hutch that said, just shut up and fish....Expect a Tournament director or owner to call you ?? Thats a fantisy. I appluad most directors/owners for keeping a low profile, why put themselves in front of the bus, waiting for guys to step on the gas; thats what they have us for, yes ?? Have a nice day...

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
I don't mean any disrespect to WCB or anyone who it trying to help promote them, as I plan to fish them as I did in the past. However, I do not see how WCB is a "better" (which is very subjective) than Stren any shape or form?
Additionally, the media coverage for FLW is on a national level with live streaming weigh-ins and a national championship that is on a major network. Stren/NG also have a staff of 10-15 people at each event.
Please explain to me how one would assert that fishing WCB over Stren would be a "better" investment? Stren pays more spots and offer a "scheduled" FREE national championship that will appear on national tv with 60 paid spots where 60th place is $4000 and first is like $100,000-120,000. Plus someone from the West at the Championship will qualify to fish the FWO for up to $1 million dollars.
I am not bashing as I plan to fish WCB. Come on folks WCB is a great opportunity and we SHOULD support this circuit but let us compare apples to apples. We are talking about a $640 entry fee verses $825. That is a $185 difference. With the same 150 boats (let’s compare) Stren would pay 10-15 more spots (40-50 spots) and WCB pays 30. You make the choice for yourself.
WCB Stren

Re: West Coast Bass Pro-Ams
No spellcheck necessary Jigs. 5th grade spelling bee champ. Bombed out in the Regionals. You will still find a few mistakes if you look deep.
I was looking at some WCB events but I am seeing cracks in the wall. Just pointing out my opinion. I am sure the local talent on each water is looking at the home field advantage. Not a big deal to me. I have no local water per se.
Paybacks and missing details are my concern. Ricky laid out the Pro side of the payouts. The huge difference is in the back of the boat. The Ams are subsidizing the Pro paybacks big time. 70 percent versus 85? 90? whatever it is. Stren Co-angler payback is over 100 percent WITHOUT the Ranger bonus. Plus the entry is cheaper. I didn't bring up the payback details but I am not going to bury them either.
The string promises are the worst part. The fishermen can do nothing to get a sponsor for you. Why should our payback or championship depend on you? What is your motivation to get the sponsor now? Should be done or not counted on for this season. The promise is just bait to get participation. I appreciate the enthusiasm but at some point the rules have to be set.
Just giving a biased opinion. The bias is to my wallet. Proceed to cheer away.
