My family is planning a vacation possibly to Bass Lake this coming July. I have never been there before. Is the bass fishing any good? Trying to decide if its worthwhile to haul the bass boat up there.

Re: Bass Lake
Bass Lake is good in the spring.I don't know about july. The thing about taking your boat up there is be prepared to pay a fee based on horsepower.I think it's $50 if you have over a 150hp.
Also if you launch on the Pines Resort Ramp you have to pay a launch fee and a fee to trailer your boat at the end of the day.
Your best bet is to launch at the day use ramp,$4. that ramp is located by the dam.
Hope this helps

Re: Bass Lake
Bass Lake has some pretty good fishing. The thing about july is, it is a very small lake and July will be scorching hot there. Too, the skiers will be out in full force. If you do take your boat take advantage of the early morning and eve/night bite. Have fun, its a cool little lake( especialy when they have water in it. LOL)

Re: Bass Lake
I did some research and found out the lake is much smaller than I thought. Part of my family lives in Southern California and the others are in Las Vegas. Looking for a place on a lake or river in the southwest where I can find a large house to rent that is right on the body of water with private dock and has decent fishing and also is good for water sports for the kids....skiing, swimming, etc.
Re: Bass Lake
As Martin and Vince eluded to fishing can be very good at Bass Lake with a chance to catch a double diget fish. This lake has a late spawn because its located at a higher elevation. Approx, 3500' Yes, HOT! in July. Yes, fees for you HP. And yes, Lots of skiers in the summer. However, It is beautiful!!! And your not far from the entrance to Yosemite National Park truly a must see if you close.
Now back to the fishing, if your a die hard. You would be kicking yourself if ya don't bring your rig. As Vince said, Hit it early and late. There are some mangum spots in that lake as well. In July, there should be a good topwater bite. Swimbaits too cause there's trout in the lake since it was built.
I would make some calls to get all the info you need as far as fee's are concerned for that time of the year. Good luck,I hope that you and your family have a great time. You can find that kind of rental at Bass Lake. Gumpa

Re: Bass Lake
I have been wondering about Bass lake myself. I just found out we (my wife and I) have inherited a Bass Lake Resort Lifetime membership when my father-in-law passed away. We are currently trying to decide whether or not to pay the yearly dues ($160.00) or sell the membership. I was wondering, for those who have been to the lake, would you think is it worth keeping? I have two young daughters and a wife who like to camp, and it looks like the resort is a glorified camp ground. I was leaning towards selling the membership because of the distance form Sacramento, but with the economy the way it is I am not sure it would be easy to find a buyer.
