I've been really wanting to fish some ponds or golf courses her in the east bay, but dont know of any. Anyone have any ideas. Also, is it legal to fish gold courses?

As a rule, you need to check with the golf course operators if you can fish their ponds. Most of the time they will say no, but here are some tips to get on these ponds:
Try to go on a rainy day, when few to no people are on the course.
Go in to the proshop and try to speak with the course manager, be cordial, explain that you only practice catch and release.
If you happen to be a student (high school, college etc.) try to make it into some sort of data collecting mission for a class project.
These are what worked for me, but don't get your hopes too high.
