There's nothing in the NorCal rules about qualifications for a pro or am so you'd be within your rights to go fish it as an am.

I understand, you want to through down your $50 and go fish.

Just seems it might cause the org some problems with their Ams as it is a shared weight event and you have established a serious reputation on that pond and other ML lakes and are a former Pro Angler of the Year for NorCal Bass. I don't know if you've considered that or checked in with Norval and the folks at NorCal but you might not be doing them a favor by entering as an Am.

Hey all,

On that note, me and a buddy would love to fish this tourny as co-anglers. If there are any pros that need a couple of ams let us know.

thx,

Hey cut Joe some slack , with the economy money is tight and Joe loves to fish more than anyone i know , so who cares if he wants to go fishing for the day and have some fun . He has some small kids and a family right now and cant get out on the water like he use to , so there is nothing wrong with fishing the Am side to have fun . :)

Last time he went as an AM I beleive it was a Federation and he drew a guy in a aluminum boat. That guy won the event and had one over ten. Joe even gave the guy the bait.

Fish as a AM Jou, nothing wrong with it. That has been a point of mine for a long time. Just because you are one of the best westcoast fisherman. If Joe wan't to fish as a Am for a tournament or a season so what. Fish, have fun and enjoy. Its just fish'n.

Sorry, didnt mean for my post to come across as bashing Joe. Not intended to be like that at all. I just didnt think he would fish as a nonboater up there, I was wrong i guess...I have no issues with him doing that, hell I may even sign up as a boater now in hopes of drawing him!! :D

This brings up and old blog of mine from many years ago. Get rid of the term "Pro" in fishing. It's meaningless. Everyone is a "Pro" in this sport. All you have to do is sign up as one! What other sport allows that? NONE! Keep it simple and just call it what it is..."Boater" "Nonboater". The term "Pro" in our sport is way off base.
