Jack -
You do not need a guide for the stripers in Hogan, what you need is a jig rod / flipping stick spooled with 10 - 12 lb flourocarbon line and about 6- 8 Spro 1/2 oz white hair raisers and some Yamamoto white single tail grubs to use as a trailer. After you launch head south into Whiskey Creek, go back as far as you can and watch your electronics for balls of shad. Once you locate the bait cast the bucktail out let it hit the bottom at the depth where the shad are located and SLOW SLOW SLOW roll it back in, you can also fish it right on the bank like a one ton rig, lift and watch the line. If this does not work try a 1/2 oz Mega Bait jigging spoon and drop it right on thier nose. If they are not going in Whiskey Creek hit all of the main lake points in the Deer Flat area and SLOW roll the hair raiser UP HILL. If all of this fails use cut bait I like Anchovies, but Shad will work just fish it right under the boat on a light 1/4 Oz C-Rig an drift with the wind. If you want to learn how to troll for them Fishingdan is the best choice, he will show you how to spin frozen shad. There are some really big Largies, Spots and Smallmouth in there as well and I often get them while targetting strippers
I mean Stripers!
Good Luck
Robert
