NEED HELP WITH BLADE & SWIM JIG SKIRTS
I have many spinnerbaits, jigs and chatter baits that have a rubberband holding the skirt together. Some are falling apart and I want to preserve them so what kind of thread or material can I use to tie them or tie over them and what kind of knot do I use?
Thanks to every one in advance.

Get some SMALL zip ties. You can tighten them down where the rubber band is and that skirt will never fall off. I have done this with several spinnerbaits and they work great.

Good idea, Moose. I've never heard of that before.

Alex, with that wire how do you tie it? Just wrap it around a couple times or do you actually tie some sort of knot?

Bail wire twist. Take a look at Skinny Bear jigs for example. 3 or 4 wraps, then twist and cut off.

I wrap rod building thread in place of the rubber band holder, tie off a knot, clip it short and add a small drop of super glue for good measure. Not the best for changing skirts but it lasts a very long time.

Small zip ties are the best! they not only last forever but come in colors AND they actually help flare the skirt. Can't be beat.

Wrapping twice is the key. No knot needed. Pulling the tag ends is more important than the twisting as far as getting it tight. Try the manual saftey wire twister pliers, it's an awesome tool to have for this. Do not use the auto or spring return. I like to use wire also. If you go to a fly shop they have wire in so many colors it will blow your mind. I usaly put about 3-4 twists.

It's probably cheaper (time is money) and easier to buy new ones.
