Anybody try the banjo minnow fishing system on the delta? They sure make it look and sound great.

never tried them on the delta, but the motherlode fish like them. i've caught some decent fish on these things. bought a couple of the kits on clearance last yr, and have had a blast with them. good action baits.

I've used em on the Delta with decent success, but there are a heck of a lot better options for the same type of bait. The one that used to really tear em up I can't remember the name of. It was a tubelike bait that when you pulled back on your rod and let the slack go, the lure would shoot forward. It was great when they were spawning, because you could keep shooting the lure right back at the fish. Anyone remember what the heck they were called?

You can still get both lures on eBay...

The banjo minnow will work on the Delta under the right conditions, just like any other lure. The commercials definitely make it look like a magic lure, but it's not. I've had close to 100 fish days on the banjo minnow, and I've had days where they wanted nothing to do with it...again, just like any other lure.

As was mentioned, the Flying Lure is another one of those TV infomercial lures that works very well. I also prefer the Flying Lure over the Banjo Minnow when fishing on the Delta. I won't my first "tournament" on the Delta with the Flying Lure. I was like 11 years old and fishing the kid's fishing derby out at Brannon Island. While all the other kids were catching bluegills under a bobber, I was throwing the Flying Lure around weed edges. I weighed in 5 bass. :-)
