Lunker Punker Swimming With The Fishes

Post by robertthornton »

Anyone have this happen to them befor. Was out a folsom tossing my Lunker Punker around, when I got blasted by what looked to be a big spot. I swung for the fences and all I got back was the little screw my line was tied to. On my other Lunker Punker, I had to appoxey the screw in because it was getting loose. Oh well back to the pencil popper.

Never had that problem and I own prolly 30 of them in all forms....And have caught stripers up to 45# on them. Only problems I have ever had is the linesiders crushing the bait. Injected punkers fixed that though. Sure ya didn't bang it off something and damage it first? Just something to consider.

I had this happen to me on a rapala skitter pop, I was using fireline and had a monster fish on... It pulled the hook screws out of the body of the lure.. Guess I should let the drag do its job....

I had it happen about a year ago. Black dog sent me a new one, cool service.
Ive always been a Black dog fan until I got the new plastic one. I bought it online so I didnt look at it first. It super sketchy looking. From now on if I buy another punker it will be the wood one.

I too have had a lot of Punkers, and have been fishing them longer than most. I can admit to having one eye tie come loose, fortunately it was on the cast and it ended up on a peat bed in Franks and I was able to retrieve it. I also must admit, it was my fault and due to chucking it nose first into the wall the cast before. It really didn't dond on me until after the fact though and I retrieve my Punker. Fortunately, I was able to go out to my personal tackle store and grab one of my PeacockBass High Rollers and take a slightly larger line tie from that bait and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

Amazingly, I told Jeremy about it some months later, and he ran to his truck and just handed me a new one. Jeremy and Grant are tremendously proud of and stand behind their products under any circumstances. My guess is, if ya had sent them a note, whether it might have been yer fault or not, they very well likely would have replaced yer bait. Hell, even after comin' in here and boppin' em like this, they still might do just that.

This happens to baits all the time. Defects in craftmenship is a given with any product we buy, not just fishing related. I've had so many lures break on me over the years, ya just treat it like a grain of sault. That, or write a nice letter to the company, send it to em and hope fer the best. Typically, the outcome has always been a pleasant surprise fer me! Try it yerself next time, and tell em Cooch told ya ta try that approach!

1+ on what Cooch mention. Call Grant and Im sure he'll work with you.

Hint: This is for anyone that may have a problem with Swimbaits or Rods with value...Instead of asking for help on ANY Web-site. JUST CALL THE COMPANY...

For LP or ShellCracker's (About 15) I have had only one little problem. The eye on the Shellcracker was slanted to one side alittle. Fixed it myself.

You know no matter how good any product may be, there's always a chance of failure.

Some of you guys amaze me. I've learned to expect nothing else from bruizer. I've yet to figure out how most of his posts can help a cause, but to each their own.

Then you guys that say he must of hit it on some rocks. Let's blame person instead of the bait? Come on! This is the crap they pull in politics. I guess I need to accept reality as the "mob rules" mentality is just as strong here.

I know you all want Black Dog bait Co. to do well. I do too. I don't know the guy that started this thread. I've read his post a few times. Unless there's some inside information and you see some hidden messages in there, it seemed pretty harmless to me. Things break! I had a brand new Punkers feathers fall of the hook in just a few casts a year ago. I also posted it here.

You guys are too transparent-word

I love ya Mike! Right after your post about your job troubles.. me too.

10-4 on not bashing anyone.. sometimes we don't realize what we say has more effect on the public than we know, BUT it's still a forum, and we are just talking to each other asking questions.

BTW Mike, I just realized what your avatar was... My sister got that same ornament for me for Christmas :)

Dudes. Some of you guys take stuff the wrong way. I have no problem with black dog baits or there quality. I think the lunker punker is one of the best big bass baits out there. And if you exclude the hudd from the conversation, I think it has to be one of the most ground breaking big bass baits ever. With that bait I broke off I must have caught 30 spots 3 to 6 pouds on that bait alone. So the money I spent was well woth it. Thats why I have made no attempt to contact the owners. That bait was on its last legs, the hooks had scratched 1/8 inch holes on both sides. I should take a picture of my other one, and post it on here.

Well, just lost my punker  . My line broke or knot came undone while fighting a decent striper tonight. Anybody catch a striper with a punker in it's mouth, please be honest and give me a shout

I still have another punker. It has about 1/3 of the paint off it. To many attempts at skippin in under the old salmon falls bridge.

Just got a rat 6 1/2 inch rat in the mail today. T.W. Took it to the pond by my house. Noticed it walked alot tighter. Anyone out there had any luck with them. Got the baby bass color one.
