Explosion at Folsom Dam?

Ok, probably not an explosion, but....Friday, my wife and I were fishing out near Beals point when we heard a loud crash from the direction of the dam followed by a cloud of white smoke (or possibly just a lot of dust). Did anyone else see this or know what it was?

They are still working on the overlook up near the dam so that is most likely what you heard......

They will be blasting some rock in the area of the new bridge. I think they said the bridge will be shut down for an hour each day as they blast.

It is most like for the construction of the new folsom spillway. This project is going on now for a year or two and gonna help to maintain the water level in the lake. No more decisions to be made by the weather man and how much rain is comming, now they will be able to let the spillway do the job when the lake fills.
