I’m off to the Air Port to pick up My Son who is heading back to Iraq. He will only get to spend two days with his mom and I but at least we will get to see him. He will be flying out this Friday for his fifth combat tour – third in Iraq. If I sound proud, I am!
We will not get to go fishing like the last time he went over.
Here are some pic’s of him making First SGT – at least this time he should be in the rear with the gear (I hope).
First Sergeants usually are "in the rear with the gear" Obtaining that rank is a truly a great accomplishment, it doesnt come easy. thank him for his service, from an ex-army grunt.
Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer!
I see your son is with 25th ID. I was with them as well. I was Infantry tho. I don't think he will be doing much outside the wire.. ESP not being a combat MOS.
Last weekend I had one of those "moments". Were gasing up the boat, easily passing $100. Walked out of the arco with 2 monsters, jerky, etc.. $15. Looked on the deck of the boat and saw a spread of Powell rods, loomis rods, curados, castaics etc.. u all know the price of that. And it really hit me hard. Yeah i work hard for my money, but how many others before me gave the ultimate price for me to have the opportunity. Here i can spend $15 on crap like energy drinks and snacks and others around the world work weeks for the money I just "threw away". I first and foremost thank God, my Family, but would like to take THIS moment to thank the individuals and the families of the individuals who have either died or continue to put their lives at risk to protect my FREEDOM. I am owed nothing and humbly acknowledge that. My prayer is that all who were born here or migrated here can acknowledge that as well.
My son is in San Diego about to start BUD's. I too am a proud poppa and would like to pass on to you and your son a huge debt of gratitude from a fellow American and Veteran.
THANK YOU
Be a proud PaPa and tell him thanks from all of us the serverd before him. Our pray's will be with him. Yes I'm a proud parent to, daughter 2 tours in Iraq and 1 in Afgan
We may not agree on all of our political points of view. However, I honor and respect your son for fighting and protecting us so that we have the opportunity to not agree.
On behalf of my family please thank your son for his protecting me and my family, all those around us, and this great country we live in. May God Bless him and return him safe and sound to his family.
I've been away Marty and I'm also late with my thanks to your son.
Best of luck to him and all the men and women serving their country.
You deserve to be very proud.
