Chatterbait question
What size is everyone throwing? I have had most of my luck on the 3/8's size but tried the 1/2 on my last few trips out and the 1/2 has performed fairly well. I thought it would be interesting to get others opinions!
thanks,

Have caught fish on both, but like the 3/8 oz better on smaller waters. Bill K

Re: Chatterbait question
I guess I am the only person on here who hasn't had all that much success using chatterbaits..Two fish and one of them was a striper..Perhaps I haven't been using them in the right places or at the right time..

Re: Chatterbait question
I like the 3/8 most of the time. It's heavy enough to cast well, but doesn't wear me out trying to burn it to keep it up in the water column.
If I throw the 1/4, I trim the skirt back to aout 1" long, to give it a smaller profile.

Re: Chatterbait question
I have caught a ton of fish on 1/2 oz. and nothing on 3/8.
My favorite color is black and blue with a skinny dipper trailor

Re: Chatterbait question
I only use the 1/2 oz and have had a lot of success with them using a "stop n go" retrieve. My colors are mainly white or chartruese/white. My biggest bass on a chatterbait is 7 lbs and my biggest striper is 10 lbs.
I found a guy who makes 3/4 oz ones but haven't had a chance to use them yet.

Re: Chatterbait question
I use both the 3/8 and 1/2 oz. I use the 3/8 over weed beds and through more shallow cover. The 1/2 oz. I use when I am trying to get a little deeper. I have had most of my success on the 3/8 oz., but I can cast the 1/2oz. a mile. I use the Revenge Viberator in shad and Purple metallic shad.

There is another good one!
I have used several brands - some are real good and some are not so good because of a poor hook and only fair vibration. I have found the D&M Piranha swim jig to be excellent with a strong feel at 40 feet or more. I have caught many big bass to nearly 10 lbs on this bait (1/2 oz), especially during the cold water months. He makes them up to 1 oz. Bob Higgins of Limit Out Tackle introduced Piranhas to me last fall. Thank you again, Bob!!!!
