New frogger here, have a question about reel drag and braid.
I just ordered my first frog set up which consist of a Dobyns 736c,Zillion 7:1 some 65LB suffix braid and some snag proof Bobby's frogs and Spro's.
This is my first expierence with braid and I was curious to find out from you froggers out there. With the braid are you keeping your drag tightend all the way or should I allow some line to slip on the hookset since there is no stretch with braid. I have heard stories about broken flippin sticks with braid and how braid is harder on equipment.
I'm so hyped to try frog fishing for the first time.
Thank you.

So long as you never set the hook into a log you should be fine, crank it tight.

Also put a 10-15 yd backing of mono - I use 15lb CXX - so the braid doesn't slip. I forgot how much I put on, but 3 or 4 layers of mono should be enough.

I put a layer of teflon tape around the spool,do you think that will work?
I took my set up out to the fornt yard and did some casting and pitching and everything felt good, the setup feels awesome,I can't wait to get it on the water.

The tape method is suppose to achieve the same thing as the mono backing, so I would think that it would work. I know people use electrical tape.
I have the same rod paired up with a Chronarch D7 and 65lb Power Pro.

I don't think teflon tape is a good choice. Teflon is slippery, and you want to create some friction. Electrician's tape, or even duct tape, would be a better choice.

Re: A few other thoughts..on froggin
1) Split a sharpie pen, and run the first6-8 feet for the braid through it- colors the line black
2) Have a big/ wide/ strong net
3) Have a follow up bait ready to cast- I mean not on a guide hook, ready to cast. Some people will advocate throwing the frog right back at them when they miss, others say immedeatly throw your follow up bait. You can find out what works for you.
4) If you are fishing with a partner, make sure they have a follow up bait ready to cast- and try to alternate casts a bit.
5) Set the hook after you feel the fish, and then really set the hook, and then swim the fish back to the boat.
6) Learn to walk the frog in open water- open water works well too, not just mats
7) I prefer smaller targets over big mats. You can experiment for yourself.
I think I left something out? but that, along with what the others said, and your reel and rod, you should be good to go.

Re: I kew I forgot something
Have your follow up on a flippin stick, with the same reel setup, and same line. If the fish misses your frog, and you throw back in their witha follow up bait, you'll need the same set up to get em out of there.
