Clear lake Water level & Algea Bloom

Post by Dom »

Thanks for the info on Clear lake and M&M Campgrounds so I get ahold of the gentalman and I told him I would like to reserve 3 site for a week the week of 18th in August (camping trip) he tells me he is closing down next week the lake is way down his ramp is just about out of the water and the lake is covered in algea!

What gives? we did this trip same time about 3 years ago and the fishing was amazing to say the least and the algea was in bloom but not that bad and the water leve was ok.

So has any one been to Clear Lake and also where is a good camp ground I want electric hook up,Tent camping, close to the water so I can leave my boat in.

Thanks Dom

I was @ state park 2 weeks ago...the water is really crappy but statepark has electrical hookups and slips for the boat.....ramp/slips are about 100yds from the camp sites..

Low stinky algae covered water in the south and low weedy slightly algaed water in the North. fishing is Overall ok. Get on em and you can wack em but its easier to miss em than in years past. Dealing with the thick algae and weeds sucks. But if Your hard core go fishin. Just dont plan on swimming this year. And if your wife is picky...stay home...lol.
Good Luck

Water was looking pretty icky as of Sat/Sun, you can find a few fish along the banks, but seemed that most fish were out off the islands on the rock piles

most of the north lake is algea free, its pretty bad in the rattlesnake arm and the redbud arm but the fish are under it and they are eating jigs , you kinda get used to fishing in it after a while.
