Lookin' like no WR bass
Lookin' like no WR bass
Read a story that says the IGFA will not certify the Biwa bass as it was caught in an off-limits area. Is there any big bass chaser that can do this right?

Plus he caught it on a live Bluegill. Takes away all the glory right there.

You watching these hacks Paul? Too bad the Bailey's haven't hung in to this thing. I am sure the T's would be crossed. I do not think the Dixon crew made a mistake that was in their control. This guy was clearly in the wrong BEFORE he caught the fish. Maybe he never intended to catch a WR but the guys that pushed him to submit and paraded this thing around should have known that the circumstances would catch up and drop kick him.
Keith, How you been? Healed up and ready to fish? Maybe we can punish those El Cap monsters together some time.

"off-limits"?
I would like to know what this area is or what the purpose of a "off-limit" would have. Could it be a area that they have equipment they don't want you to fish around or maybe a private cove or something of that nature? There could be alot of stupid reasons a area is "off-limits". I mean the goverment wanted to get rid of ALL the bass in this lake at one time so we know this area probiby isn't closed to protect the bass. As for the use of the live bluegil, who cares unless it is the rules to use live bait? I mean how many of the top 15 bass ever caught wre caught on live crawdads? I think more than 2/3 of these big fish have been caught on live bait. And I really don't think this bass was living in a "off-limits" area because he knew he was being protected? This is a masive fish and I hope we remember that it did break the ALL TIME record if if it would have only been reconized as a tie. Hopefully moree info will be released about this area and whether the angler knew about it or not. He probibly did but we can't say for sure as of yet. It just seems like nobody want's the record to be officialy broke. Wonder how the record fish(Perry) and it's angler would stand up in todays times, probibly not very good.

Rules are rules and laws are laws. Off limits means no fishing for sure. Possibly no trespassing. Do you think it would be OK if somebody broke a tournament rule but the organization gave them your money anyway?
If rules are not necessary then the WR has already been solidly broken down here at Dixon. Those guys did not intentionally snag that fish but you would think they concieved a plan to steal a kid's bike.
Too many rules? Maybe. But they are very clear. ALL Black bass in California must be caught in the mouth and a WR can not be caught in an off-limits area.

Re: Lookin' like no WR bass
smpboy, I have never fished there so I don't know the area your talking about. I guess the main thing I mean is lets not lose sight of the incredible fish this man caught. I understand the rules and laws are put in place for a reason. But we are talking about a bass the size that no one have ever caught without snagging one. I have seen areas up here thatt say "no fishing" just because there is a pipe there that they don't want your boat to bump into it but it doesn't mean you can't cast over and into the area.Losts of different factors. I just want more info is all.God bless....Jim

What? EVERY sight fish is snagged. Some are just snagged in the mouth instead of out.
Those Dixon boys thought the fish ate and it was in a legal fishing area. Let's take that fish.
It is not like the Biwa fish is the biggest anybody has ever seen. Actually there have been bigger netted from that lake. Maybe the netted fish should have been submitted. At least that person was not breaking a law.
