Sunline- What happened?

from what ive heard. sunline is brittle and weak. its sensitive but weak. and ive heard that from a reliable source

A few years back they restructured and most of the anglers that were on sponsorship with them were let go of or left Sunline. So there is not as much grass roots promotion of this product.

I cant comment on the brittleness of the product or its strength as it was always too rich for my blood.

Absolutely positively nothing wrong with Sunline. Ash is right about the grass roots program not being around anymore and I'm sorry to say alot of those so called "Prostaffers" were clowns anyway and once their sponsorship was gone they jumped ship and went to a different line company.

I myself use it and believe it's the best line around. No sponsorship and all I pay what you guys pay for it.

A little tip for anyone wondering which brand of Sunline to use. Keep it simple when dealing with all the different styles they offer.
For all your spinning reels buy the F.C. Sniper very limp and very strong. Their 4,5, and 6lb in this line is very strong. For throwing jigs, big worms, Carolina rigging get the Shooter. A stiffer stronger and more abrasion resistant line. 10, 12, 14, and 16lb get used alot in my boat and their line diameter is much smaller than some of the other fluorocarbons.

The comment about Sunline being brittle and weak..........Try it for yourself I highly doubt you'll find it brittle and weak regardless of what your source told you.

I haven't contributed much on here lately and today I just felt like sharing for a change. By the way all lines are good just find one that you have alot of confidence in and stick with it.

A little fact I can tell you at Anglers Marine Sunline outsells all lines combined. Have a good day guys. MP

Mike, I have to agree with you on the Sunline Sniper..I was using the 6# for a while and found it to be exceptionally strong..The only reason I haven't continued using it is the cost..It is great line..

In all seriousness, Sunline is the best line I've ever used and I wish we still had our deal with them but I too still used the stuff for all my fluorocarbon applications. Their 4 and 5 lb test stuff is amazing and its super thin diameter.

Not to knock any brand, but I've found that a lot of guys say they have 4 lb line but its the diameter of 6 or 8 lb when you look at the diameter specs.

Lets see, two of the best light line guys [Aaron Martens and Brent Ehrler] use it, and one of the best flippers/pitchers [Tommy Biffle] use it. Sounds like they have all the range covered to me. Best line EVER made IMHO. Rick G.

Great reply Mike thanks for the tips. I was a little confused by all their different line types and what applications they are best used for.
Mac uses sunline and it always holds up well.

Because of the inherent issues that have come along with mono-type lines in the past I have never been a very big fan of the stuff. But having said that, I use Sunline Shooter Defier in 22# test on the majority of my swimbait reels and it has performed flawlessly for nearly two years. I can see where the initial cost might be prohibitive, but the abrasion resistance and overall duration of the line has offset much of the expense for me.

By far the best FC I've used on spinning reels!! It's pricey but so are a lot of quality products.

Mike, I still love it myself, 5 and 6lb is easy to cast and really strong. Used it at US OPEN and and never broke off a fish. Sunline for me.
